Im going to scalop the back side and bottom.

Details, I don't even know what that means

Im starting to wonder what prop to start looking for to go with my ported 718. I have a solas 15/20 now. Anyone running one of jetmaniacs motors? I guess Id have to see how it compares to a worked up sxr motor and prop accordingly. Then again this being a super light hull, what works in an sxr may not work for me. Wasnt there a guy that put a 701 in a 750sx?

I'd call Impros and tell them what you have and see what they say. Kinda hard to compare apples to apples when you are talking a 718 Yamaha engine coupled to a 140mm Kawi pump. What works for the 750 Kawi and it's pump, may not be optimal for the 718 Yamaha engine. Also, having a package that will (hopefully) be 20-30lbs lighter than a SJ will come into play as well.

Cannibal, will you please start a build thread already! I want to see someone with more work ahead of them than me. Im tired of itching.

Hahaha, I have the 300sx stripped, and I'll post a pic of the 750, the only thing there is the very bottom of the bottom deck and a bulkhead. Looks funny. I'll get a build going here shortly. Next week I work graveyard, so I'll get more done during the day.

So I found a really nice orange carbon kevlar to do the inside with. I like the idea so much I was wondering if its possible to laminiate the bottom of the hull with it too? Im talking about visual carbon on the bottom of the hull. I could wet sand it smooth after the epoxy dries and bail on a couple coats of automotive clear coat and sand and buff that flat. just wondering if its been done and how does it look at the edges where the bottom meets the sides of the hull? ski will be orange black and gray.

I used the orange carbon kevlar and was disapointed that it turned out so red. It's orange to start, but once it gets wetted out, the orange fibers darked considerably.

As far as the visual thing? I don't know how that would work or look. Also, any damage is going to be impossible to fix and match. I would not do it personally, but there is a first for everything.

I've tried Great Stuff for shaping and it needed like 24 or 48 hours to full harden to shape. It was soft and useless until full cure. Go get yourself some 2 part foam from a plastics place, fiberglass supply, or marine store. You can start shaping in about 30min.

You will want to do the nose in one pour. If you don't get enough and need to pour more on top, the skin on top of the first pour will leave a hard spot, and when trying to shape and sand, you will end up with a high spot because of it. If you need to pour again, sand/cut off the skin and pour on top of exposed foam.

Also, make sure you don't pour too hot, you will have large air voids and you will need to do a skim coat of filler before glassing.

That is a great idea. Having to hop & pull is quite annoying. I even tried this long azz clutch lever thinking I could get some extra leverage on it but didnt seem to help much. Great build btw. I am looking for 300sx hull as we speak and will be doing the same but with a kawi 750. If you try that lever before me then post up how you connected and how it works. Now hurry up and get this thing done.

I plan to use the 300 sx steering cable for the trim so I have something really solid. pivot arm about 2.5" with the trim cable end mounted furthest away from the pivot area and the hydraulic cable end in between the 2, doing this will almost double the travel of the hydraulic slave cylinder. Not to mention feel like nothing in your hand when your on the throttle. Im just stuck on how to mount the end at the pump. another steering tube would be perfect! Anybody have one to part with?

Great idea on the hydraulic lever. I was considering one for some time - great find. I think your thinking is very good on this as this will definitely allow more airtime for a backy.

If your talking about running it thru the hull, I used the stock bilge tube., and just used the stock hose out the back to seal it up and then just built a bracket to hold the cable but I dont know how well that steering cable would bend.

I'm thinking of having the lever mechanism all machined and packed in a nice little billet box so all you would need is a 300sx steering cable and the hydraulic lever from eBay.

I did some brainstorming and want a hydraulic trim setup. Came up with this- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HYDR...1703274QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories it would have to go to a plate with a pivot arm that the terrycable could thread into. I hated the fact that on my old setup I could not pull the trim in without letting off the throttle. 69.00 and I get everything down to the slave cylinder!

used that set up with my trim assembly. it has its flaws. 1" stroke, weak point at the ball end, can't find orings to rebuild it. worked moderately well.

look a little more, i bought my last one for like 30$ shipped for the set. my trim assembly also multiplies the throw 1-1.5 for a 0* - 33 *ish in travel.

just never took it to production.

I already ran a tube for the cable a few years back when I put in my cats system. The tube is still there from the part I grafted. Only issue is it was for a terrycable setup and now I need to be able to secure the steering cable at the end where it needs to lock in. I'm not sure what I'm more pumped about, the new hull or the new trim system.

Nice build! I haven;t been to harvey's lake in a few years. Are there a lot of standups around?
