I sanded that down and there were a few spots I still didn't like so I did end up pulling some more filler , this time I mixed it up not quite as heavy as usual and used a business card as a spreader , you can pull it very smooth that way if you are careful , one more light sand and I should be good , whatever is left I will deal with by sanding and blocking it out with high build primer.

To quote the late George Michael : Sometimes you think you gonna get it , but you don't and that's just the way it goes.

We are on the home stretch now , I am just working on this ski in my spare time which there is not much of right now , it seems that there is a sea oF green Seadoos here to work on, two are sales skis the rest are customers. one is a Yamaha but all of them are green.

I am getting my smooth on It's starting to look like they came on there from the factory !

I have it in high build primer now which will mean lots of sanding , blocking ,respraying and more sanding and blocking .

I have to finish up that other gunwhale piece glassed up then I am going to drop it in and see what's what .

I got her fired off today , I had to pull the starter off and get it unstuck then clean up and grease the end bearing , it's sounding really good , I am going to try it out without the training wheels and see if I still got it or if I have lost it lol.

Hopefully I will get it in the water Sat or Sun.

So late last night I tried to fire it off again and the starter was pulling massive amounts of amperage, today I ripped it back apart , got a starter of a junker Waveventure 1100 , changed the end caps ansd reisntalled it.

While I was working on it a plug wire pulled right out of the CDI-coil, never seen that one before, I got out the flashlight and I could clearly see the coil spike, so I cut the wire back and put it back in with some Hondabond, I put some small zip ties around the rubber collar to hold it in place while it dries.vn ,

I threw the starter in the penally box , it will stay there till I decide to rebuild it someday later down the road.

I put bunks and a winch on a trailer this morning , filled it up with some 93 octane and I have it loaded up and ready for the shakedown cruise, it's ugly as hell at this point but it should run good with no issues, at least not with the ski anyway.

Rode it at Lake Jackson in Florala today , so technically I rode in Alabama and Florida today.

The ski ran beautifully, i would say I had no problems getting up on it but that would be a lie, there is no turf on the ski at present and I didn't even thing about the underpadding that is still left on the ski being slippery when it gets wet, well it is and it does, but I still rode it out like a rental.

The handling and stability are both vastly improved with the tubbies installed , the engine has a little bit of a gurgle somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle , I will probably have to spend about half a day tuning on it when I get it completed but for now I am happy with it.

I did not get to ride it as aggressively as I would have liked because of the slip and slide, but what I may do is put some cheapo turf on it to check it out then just turf over that , extra padding is always a good thing.

I decided to go ahead and install the bottom mat so I could check this ski out a little better , I had a piece of turf big enough for the bottom mat but I will have to get some more to do the sides with as I have used this on other projects that actually make money versus this money pit of evil , since I was wasting turf anyway I went ahead and turfed the top of the one gunwale I have ready nearly to go.

I say ready to go but it became pretty obvious to me when riding it last week that I am going to have to enlarge the channel in the bottom of the foothold-gunwale. there won't be any room once turf is added and there really isn't enough room right now, this is the reason for the shake-down though way easier to find out now before I get the other foothold-gunwale glassed up. and installed.

In case you are wondering that small funky looking piece of turf on the left side is to get the spacing right on the other gunwale., besides it adds character. I folded the turf over the bond rail in the back but most likely I will run the rubber trim all the way around the bond line and cut that back to accommodate , maybe, maybe not depends on how I feel that day.
