Interestingly enough, the promoters had the APBA's blessing. There was discussion between the promoter and the APBA and they determined that they didn't think the 3D had any competitive advantage.

yeah thats almost as smart as saying there is an unfair advantage when an obese guy rolling across a long distance footrace on a couch with wheels compaired to the rest of the Runners on foot and he is considered to have the expected "disadvantage"

Based on what is coming out in the threads on PWCToday....it sounds like the F'up goes all the way up to the top. More mismangement for our sport. Man, I wish I lived closer to the ocean....

Thats funny. The 3D stand up champ(his name over at PWCT) kid thinks he is some real hot sheet now... Its a XPL hull for gods sake. I cant believe the APBA and the promoters let it classify as a standup.

He thinks he's the new Ironboy stand up endurance racing Champion!

im the one that said we should just put are skis on a pontoon an i told them ill just put some handle bars an pole on my bros bass boat that does 70 mph in choppy arsh delta water..........the kids will look back an see how dumb they are acting.A 3-d but not a hydro allowed thats so god dam lame!!!!!!!!

yeah... nothin more annoying than a punk ass kid runnin his c*cksucker when he really has done nothing but make himself and our sport look stupid and lame... w/ the help of the idiot promoters, of course

Does this part have to do with the 3D?
"Post race issues have also been raised as to boat classification, and this will be reviewed by the race committee after the results have been completely re-tabulated and addressed at that time."

I think it's odd that they wont let a junior race a runabout for insurance reasons. I guess thye fele standups are safe since they are slower and not as heavy when they hit each other but then they will let them race a ski that is basically a runabout with a handle pole and on the same course with the runabouts and standups. No constistency in the logic sometimes.
