I have herd stories that someone already tried to come up with one but it didnt work out but I have never seen it. Do you think they will ever come out with one factory or aftermarket. I know there are a million problems to work out with 4 stroke engine in freestyle skis but isnt the number one goal of a freestyle engine torque? I am no engine builder but I do know in the motorcross world in terms of torque from 2 stroke to 4 stroke bikes it is night and day. The 4 stroke has way more. What do you all think?

You can feel just how much "torque" that a fourstroke makes by riding a Hydrospace. You will be very dissapointed. I dont know where the four stroke lovers get their information. Even 30 year old 250 and 450 twostroke bikes are more powerful than modern replacements.

If the EPA has their way, and they will, eventually all 2-strokes will be a thing of the past. We now are seeing 4 strokes where 2 strokes once ruled:

off road bikes
outboards
sit down skis
weed eaters

It's only a matter of time.

The weight of a 4-stroke would suck. Plus water ingestion would be a much bigger issue than with a 2. When it happens here, I'll move to another state.

Question: If they were to ban them in a coastal state would they still be illegal to ride in the ocean?

All we need is the E-Tec technology to migrate to other categories, same emisisons and consumption as the best 4-strokes but less weight and complexity

Well of course, you have to almost double displacment in a 4, to equal a 2 stroke. Which means more than double the weight and size if you use a dohc set-up. I guess the short answer is, nothing can match our 2-stroke engines in terms of size, simplicity, maintenance, weight, and durability.

dont get ahead of yourself....

there will be enough parts left for the next couple of lifetimes.....

I think the only component that is not covered by aftermarket at a somewhat affordable rate is the cases and if demand were there, someone could easily start producing cast cases. The yamaha 2 stroke can stick around for a long, long time.

But what if they quit making two stroke oil?

STFU dont let the tree huggers hear you.

but seriously do you think an oil company would ever stop producing something they can markup a ton and sell??

do you really think it costs as much as it does to produce two stroke oil?

i used to buy dino snowmobile oil for 5 bux a gallon. it really was not that long ago.

Screw fourstrokes.. why has no one tried making a small displacement Wankle motor??? They can hit and rev to the moon. smoothly.
