44mm carbs on a 701

Location

Superjets came with a 62t bottom \ 61x top from 96 and up.

701 couches came with a 62t bottom 62t top . different port timeing and larger exhaust if I'm correct is the only differences.

Lots of threads on it....and lots of opinions. But yes you want 61x cylinders all day long IMO.

You can always sell your 62t cylinders to the few that love them and $et them up properly.

stick with stock 38s, its a waste of $ to go to 44mm with a mod 701 you will get hardly any gain, just because you ad more fuel doesn't mean you ad more HP theres alot more to it to get the full advantage out of 44mm carbs on a 701. If you go to a punched out stroker 701 motor yes you will get some gain. now if you have $for a dasa 850cc+ then it is absolutely necessary to have big mm carbs for big air/fuel intake.

If your using a 62t cylinder make sure it started as a 701
Don't get the 760 64x cylinder. It will go hard

A well set up set of 44s will be better every where than a set of 38s
If you are using me fuel its because you are burning more.
If you are burning more and they are tuned right it's because you are making more power
You have to feed the horses

The 760 cylinder will go hard. No doubt about that. But if you want the pop the 701 cylinder has the lower exhaust timing that will help you out.
It's a lot to do with the way the transfers are aimed into the cylinder as well. Not the physical height but the angle upwards they are aimed as well as the direction across the piston

If you read the blaster triple thread I did on pwctoday it goes into the angles in great depth and will explain it better than I can be bothered right now lol

Yes the 62t cylinders are std bore 701 but now I'm thinking about buying 61x cylinders for more low end pop just keep getting different options so not sure.

Yep could do that...decked and ported and custom domed 62t's...just means those parts are not off the shelf and need to always stay together.....and the owner needs to know and remember what they have...and pass it on to the next owner!!

Im in so cal. I can build you a nice 5mil stroker out of your parts. Your cylinder will not be decked or milled so it wont be stroker only if thats a concern. No crazy prices here either. Why put money towards a 61x cylinder plus porting plus pistons and bore when you can put it towards a nice stroker crank and get better results. We can work with your bore and pistons if they are in good shape saving you $$ too. If you are stock bore it would become a 752cc stroker with nice low to mid snap.

Ok so found a 61x cylinder and pistons for $100 so gonna pick those up good deal either way but still a little confused about the difference. I know it's porting but witch one is better for what like low end ,top speed? Thanks for all your help guys don't know what I would do without hx2o / pwc today (probably save a lot of money haha )

You seem convinced to go with a 61x so go with that. Your in for a shock however when you see the stock porting. So while it may be cheap your going to have to factor in porting. Oh also a girdle head because the 61x cylinder will break easily if you start to make power. When you have run it for a while you will then pull the cylinder and skim the cylinder as the sleeves will have dropped. Or you could buy a 62t. Hang on you own one of those

Really depends on how much port or casework you want. Could be done as low as $887. Your best power per dollar would be $987. You could go all the way to stage 3 with case porting and that would total $1287 using your pistons.
