650sx upgrades needed

Hi jus bought a 650sx needed a little love the cooling nipple snapped off the bulk head so I drilled the old one threw with a 4 foot drill bit and installed a new line and it runs perfect I’ve ridden it three times now and would say I’ve gotten the hang of it. Only problem is not I’ve ridden my buddy’s modded 750 and my other friends sxr800 and I want more power, looking for a sbn 44 and intake top loader intake grate and really any other mods for a little more power. Jus trying to save a little money instead of buying new lmk what you have I can pay pal!437FA007-6AB4-4172-BABA-832F3B7BEB57.jpeg

You will most likely have to install a 750-800 engine with a pipe in order to get enough power. You can use a large hub 750-800 impeller by having it modified to fit a 650 pump and installing a 750ss/xi driveshaft. A 750sx E-box can be mounted cleanly over the battery. To do it right, you are basically in for a complete overhaul on the entire ski but it will be good for many years.

Seems like it would be easier and smarter Jus to buy a 750 instead of swapping a motor into a 650? I like my 650 it’s not horribly slow I jus want a little more punch I’m not looking for twice the acceleration just a lil extra, the skis bone stock I’m sure a oversized carb a right prop and top loader and high comp head would have to maoe atleast a slight difference!

Don't even mod it. Especially if that price for the carb and intake you wanted sounds too pricey. You are gonna spend over 1k to get it even close to a bone stock 650 superjet that has a decent prop.

Compare a modded out 650sx with a 750 engine piped and dialed to a 650 superjet with nothing but a good prop and a protec or b pipe and you'll flood the lake youre on with tears. Nevermind the 701 motor, that's where the fun starts.

My advice: run what you got for now. Pin it, win it, blah blah. Go out there and go nuts and ride ride ride! When you are ready put it up for sale and pass it along to another newbie while you buy either a superjet or an aftermarket freestyle hull(that run Yamaha drive lines)

Your new to the sport, go ride! And don't spend money modding that ski. We are all different, but that's my opinion

There are many mods that you can do to make it alot more fun for not much money.

1) If you've got the 28mm carb look for a 38 or 40mm keihin. You can get one cheap and it mounts on your existing intake with a little porting
2) Make sure you have a diverter exhaust manifold, gasket match everything, and open the headpipe to 41-42mm
3) Do the stock dry pipe mod
4) Get a straight 15 or 15.5 skat stainless impeller

Maybe $200 if you don't need the exhaust manifold. This will be a fun ski to rip around on, do long slides, surface tricks, etc. and get you tray time.

650 Superjets have good throttle response but are slow after that. Back in 1993 I had both and the Yamaha had to be ported before it would go as fast as a limited 650sx . I can say the 650sx suffers a lot more than a Superjet does with larger riders. If you are much over 160lbs the 650sx needs a lot of power.

Agreed anyone that thinks a stock 650 Superjet is fast is dreaming

Spent 5- sunset after work with my boss yesterday and I gotta say he’s got a 750sx with a factory pipe and sum other mods and we both jus got into stand ups and I was able to do everything that he can, I honestly might just hold off and ride it how it is,it runs perfect starts right up and will idle all day revs out and it’s a blast I’m in love with it like I said jus would like a little more power but it’s nothing horrible, maybe I’ll sell for a 750sx this winter then the year after join the super jet mafia ;)
