701 spark traveling up the pulse line

Maybe someone can help. I have a 1994 701 61x motor that fires over with 150psi in both heads and a carb rebuild. Fires right up but runs like crap. Seems like its losing spark. Anyway I've noticed a spark that runs up the pulse line into the carb. This can't be good and probly the reason why its running like crap. I don't know what this means or why it's happening. Has anyone else seen or heard of this before?? Please help

Not trying to be smart but can you take a pic &/or vid before you fix this? I'm honestly shocked & amazed to hear this is real.

Yes will do. Ski runs but runs like poop. Constantly dies out like its a spark issue. Just had the carb cleaned and top end reads 150psi in both heads. Will upload a video when i get home

If you truly have balls of fire puffing out the pulse line only thing it could be is a loose stator plate or a sheared woodruff key but even then it seems far fetched.

I'm going to agree with DAG and yamanube and say it's gotta be timing related, especially if the ski runs like crap. Most likely a sheared woodruf key.

Not sure why some are making a big deal about this not being real or now having heard everything. We run spark arrestors for this very reason.

It's probably not a bad idea to rebuild your carb once you figure out your issue. Maybe move that primer line out of the fuel line feeding the carb to the return line as well.
