Custom/Hybrid 701 with rickter FR2

ok guys im about to buy a rickter hull here soon. and will be putting the components from my superjet into that hull. i have been bouncing around ideas about how to get more power out of a stock 701 motor reliably (from 2000 Superjet). my first thought was to go with 760 cylinders and pistons and add a higher compression head and factory pipe. is this worth it? im not looking to spend $5k on a built motor so any help wuld be great

I have the same ski. Here's my specs.

year 2000 62T case and 61X cylinder. No case porting, no cylinder porting, no boring. OEM Crank and Pistons. Cold-Fusion billit half girdle head with 35cc domes puts me at 180 pounds of compression.
Limited Factory B-Pipe with a Factory Pipe Waterbox and a Jet Works Flow Control valve. Single 44 Black Jack Carb ontop of a single ATP billet intake manifold with carbon VForce 2 reeds.
Stock lightened flywheel with 62T electronics and a MSD Enhancer. Cold-Fusion billet kawi style lightened couplers, Cold-Fusion Billet midshaft and a Billet Skat-Trak 145 magnum pump with a 9/15 prop and a protec slightly bored exit nozzle.

The pump is the key player in this whole set up. It takes all the power this "limited" set up makes and puts it's all to the water. I want reliability and this set up is great for that and because we have big waves I can get away with a smaller HP motor compared to the rest of the motors out there. I also like to ride full throttle when I hit waves to do tricks and it's nice to have confidence pulling the throttle wide open and knowing I'm not going to kill myself like if I had a big powervalve motor and having to be afraid of giving too much gas and getting into trouble.

But the biggest question is. Is yours for surf?

honestly i only ride surf about once a month but i need a ski that is able to do both i would love to have A XFS but it looks like its not really meant for surf i need more of an all around ski thats why im thinking FR-2. any thoughts?

Get the XFR then. It is a reinforced XFS that's surf friendly.

not necessarily...once it is set up right u dont have to mess with it...my ported 701 has the same or more power with stock 38s than my old similarly ported motor with a single 49 full spectrum...had the engine builder jet and tune the carb both times and ive never had to touch either of them once..just put gas in it and go...save your money on the carb and get your cyl ported instead

single carb because it is easier to work with and more reliable

How often do you work on your carb? :dunno:
Once set up right, how is a carb setup unreliable? :dunno:

I haven't touched mine in two years. I just had them rebuilt this winter as preventative maintenance.

it just seems there is less to work on if you have only one carb... but apparently I am wrong... sorry about that hahaha....and I am not saying buy a carb... I am gonna run stock everything on my ski for a long long time haha

There is virtually nothing to work on if your setup is done right and dialed in.

get your motor ported...makes a big difference as far as waveriding goes...having the snap/bottom end to do a turn when its over vertical in the pocket and then blip the throttle and bring the nose up and air drop into the flats makes all the difference..if not make sure u glass the nose extra heavy

stock in both.. solas 13/17 in all my skis...works perfect

and like i said my old motor was ported with a full spec 49 both motors tuned by the builders..the one with 38s is the same or more powerful than the one with the single 49
no mags for me..i like the slippery little stock 144 for surfriding

these set ups your comparing are they with stock pumps or mags?
