The cuts came out way cleaner this time on the build hull.

do you know how to take the steering cable off on that ski?? just wondering cause I noticed its still in there lol. I didn't know till i got sent one. grab the round brass piece after the nut with channel locks or a pipe wrench and twist.

Nice progress so far man. I love what you did with the pole mount.

I made some progress on the tray today. One chunk of foam came out that wasn't supposed to, but it went well other than that.

what tools are you using to cut away the plastic?

What plastic? I used a dremel to cut the fiberglass off of the foam and then a reciprocal saw with a 6" blade to cut then foam out. After I cut the majority of the foam put with the saw, I came back with the dremel for the corners and clean up.

Got the fiberglass cut off the second side. I'll have to wait until I get home a day when it's still bright out so I can cut the foam outside. That stuff is a mess...I did the second side a little differently because of the fire extinguisher. I'm going to try to cut the entire fire extinguisher compartment out completely. I also took a picture to show the width I gained at the bottom of the tray. It's about 2 1/4"

Thanks! I chose to go with the sj pole for a few reasons. I want to be able to run riser bars in the future, which can't be done with kawasaki handlepoles. I also wanted to move the pole bracket further forward for better control over the ski. I also cracked a 550 handlepole this summer, so I was looking for something a little stronger. I can't wait until I'm finished with this and get to go ride it. I'm really curious to see what the wide tray and pole setup feel like riding. I've never ridden a 550 with a short pole, but I'm hoping it helps. My steering setup will be around -4" with 0* bars and a little shorter if I decide to try riser bars.

this is comin along nice! So, you trashed the old neon hull or you gonna patch it up later?

Thanks! I haven't touched the neon hull. I'm doing all the practice cuts on an old beat up waterlogged hull. I still have the neon hull, but I probably won't use it again.

I just got done cutting the second side of the tray. That fire extinguisher compartment was a b!tch. The total width of the tray is 17" now. The stock width was about 11.5", so I picked up about 5.5" total. I"ll lose a little after I lay down glass, but I'm happy with the width. The cuts are pretty equal on each side, but will need a little trimming. The right side has a slightly different angle on the cut, but wont be hard to correct.

just a idea but did you think about a ledge or a lip so your feet have something to catch? BAsicaly what it would be is a cut out of foam along the back/bottom about 2-3 inchs high. then class the cut outs. Just idea that I am going to do to mine once I just the tray wider on it.

I have thought about that and will probably do it. I saw it on a square nose build and the 6' 2" legdrag 550

Yeah that would be pretty cool. It would probably make your tray feel even wider while you are riding plus you have some lip to grab with your toes.
