Oops...Taiwan then....same garbage, right?

So I thought Wiseco was coming out with their own line? Did it happen?

no way...taiwan is way better than china junk...

its funny, I remember when I was a kid anything made in japan was looked down on!

sbt stuff can be hit or miss......I personally have run at least 3-4 of their cranks and only had 1 problem which they fixed..granted, these were stock motor + pipe..

i wouldnt run one in a high compression, ported, ignition advanced motor.......thats just silly

against my better judgment, i was going to install a 1200 pv motor from them. something told my to look in the exh ports before i put the manifold on. so glad i did, two of the three cylinders were not even repaired! they still had the scoring from the last engine failure! one of them had chunks out of the ports! i stopped and called the customer who was an atty, had him come down and look at what they sent. the guy went off the deep end with them and we ended up installing a oem motor..

i will say this for them, they got some really hot calendar girls!!

How can you maintain Quality Control on a product shiped from Taiwan, China, etc...
You can't.
When there is a specification issue it is too late, its either on a boat being shipped or already installed. The customer and builders have to suffer$

Had the same thing happen. I had a really nice looking crank that a bearing went out on and sent it to them for an exchange and they sent me a rebuild one that was all chewed up. I really wish I would have just got mine rebuilt.

Is there a way to identify an SBT motor? Do they engrave it or something? I acquired a motor in a parts lot a while back and I got a bad feeling about it. I would rather know before I run it.

Usually you can tell from the paint job or the fact that they have a round white sticker on the head... its a temp sensor.

I also had read somewhere how the detune them after they rebuild them. They run a thicker head gasket to lower the compression or something like that.

I took my sbt 720 and freshened it up myself (ie new gaskets, milled head, reset squish, rotary valve clearance etc). When I checked the squish on the as-received sbt motor, it was twice the maximum amount allowed by seadoo.

well thanx for the pep talk i just got a sbt engine looks like i will have yall a good story soon just as long as i dont tear up the x2 i will enjoy blowing another engine i will dump rubing alcohol in it
