I've got the last of the parts I need in the mail and grabbed a crappy dig. camera from work to hold me over till I get mine working again. Hope to start assembly next week and should have pics then.

Finally got the motor shimmed and bolted in. The only thing left to do is put in some lord mounts for the pipe, plumb my cooling, make a bracket for the gas tank and mount the Ebox. I fired it up tonight and DAMN it sounds good...these motors sound nothing like any 62T/61X motor I have ever heard. Hope to tidy some things up this weekend and go for a test ride if the weather permits.
Here are a couple pics of my extremely dirty/dusty engine compartment...glamor pics coming in a week or so :arms:

Rode the ski for the first time today. The carbs are set rich and I trying to take it easy for break in but this motor RIPS. Bottom end is a bit flat but no bog or hesitation, mid range the ski launches out of the water and revs fast and from what I can tell (under 3/4 throttle) the topend is insane. I am very pleased with the setup and it really isn't to bad on gas (got about 1 hour on 3 gallons) I have seen the light...in its current form it is not the end all flatwater motor but for the style of riding I do it is a great setup and for chasing boats on the river and launching off cruiser wakes it will be sick.
Can't wait for warmer weather!!!

Well I have burned probably 30-40 gallons through the ski so far and am loving it. I finally got around to tuning the carbs a little (tiny) bit last weekend. I was running very rich, leaned things up a bit and gained a little bottom end and a bunch of mid range, I only went in 1/4 turn on my screws and really think there is more to get out of it but man it REALLY made a difference. I thought it pulled hard before, it really goes now. I will be putting a 550 gas tank in soon, which fits very well besides having to put a small dent in the exhaust side, should pick up a gallon there. If that fits and works well I am going to look for an aftermarket 550 tank (the tall one), as long as it has the same footprint it should fit just fine.

glad to hear its rippin!!!!
It fuggin rocks, besides getting the money together and shopping for the parts I needed it was an easy swap. I honestly spent less time setting up and tuning this motor than my last 790 BB 62T motor and it is worlds ahead of that. With a couple jetting recommendations from board members it was up and running, just now playing with the screws a bit and I woke up the monster. Small gas tank and no waterbox still sucks but I plan to have that figured out by next season if not late this season then over winter I will bump up my compression and maybe add gas valves (or 1300 NPV cylinders) just to simplify and clean things up.

is that what it is going to be with the indent or what the stock 550 tank is?
After I dented it I measure it at 3.5 gallons, dented on the pipe side and on the opposite corner to fit around the battery. It is very tight in there (pushing against the pipe and battery) the battery will be fine, wedged some turf in there but it seems to be pushing my pipe out of alignment a bit. I messed with it a bit more and alleviated the problem a bit, gonna test it this weekend but I may have to dent it more. An oversized westcoast 550 tank will take some serious denting to fit I just hope I don't have to go back to the cart tank.

How do you like your ski so far?
I did a search as I heard this is the best Punch for your dollar you can get....with stock reliability.
Do you have more engines pics?

Here's the aftermarket tank I had on my 550, and you can sort of see the other ski with a stock tank in the background for size reference. Let me know if you need more specifics or pics.

You say the motor is a bit flat on the bottom... Do you think it's better or worse than your decked out 701 on the bottom? Obviously you think it's far superior on the mid and top end though.

Now that I played with the tuning a bit I feel that it is stronger than any 61x/62T based motor I have ever been on, all over. I wouldn't hesitate to say it is more powerfull than the flat top, stock stroke, lamey pv motor that I rode.
