Back to your problem at hand...make sure you thoroughly check that bottom end. I would yank the engine, remove the bottom case off the bottom end and give that crankshaft a good look over. New gaskets all the way around. Bath the bottom end in two stroke oil to make sure all metal flakes or debri is out.

Thanks everyone for your help.
I talked more with Bruceski and it seems the best route for me at this point is to find a cheap and complete running 650 and throw it in.
I just want to get my brother out on the water with me and not have him disappointed.
Im not familiar enough with ski engines to be splitting cases and rebuilding whole engines and summer is here and not waiting :p

^ This.

I also have 2010 super jet that is setup amazingly and rips, we can take turns trading off on the skis but need something for the 2nd person to at least move around on the water.
I want to get that smile back on his face asap :)

Cheap is cheap...but buying a 650 now and then wanting to replace it later with a 701 later would be double the work. Since your bro is going to be riding it, ask him to through in some scratch to get a proper good engine. Just my 2 pesos.

In the end whatever gets ya on the water bud! Summer will disappear quick! Good luck with whatever you decide!

I have a 650 that I've never used. Of course I started it before I took it out lol. It came in my sn sj when I got it. Switched it for a 701 61x. Comes with carb already bolted on. Idles high needs messed with. Compression is written on top of motor. Might have to zoom up on pic.

I cant see what the second compression number is, it seems it says 154/ something.
Find out what the compression is and let me know your price on it shipped to 96073.
Is the engine stock or bored once/twice/etc.
Thanks

It's 154 12/13 and 153 12/13 it's all stock. I've never Shipped a motor. Gonna do some research. Or if your familiar you might enlighten me lol

Cool sounds like a nice stock motor and just what I need.
I've never shipped an engine but maybe pm Jetmaniac or another member with experience shipping and ask them

^^^ I think that's what I'll do! Unfortunately I don't have time to do that till next Friday I'm bout to go out of town. So norcaltrd if you can wait till then. Idk how much shipping is. But how does 300 sound for the motor. And then shipping is on you

I wouldn't mind waiting but I think that's a bit high for a stock 650.
It doesn't include the stator or ebox right?
I was told by a few experienced members that the engine should run around 300 shipped.

Let me know if that works for you.

I don't know the pricing all that well. No fly wheel or stator or starter but I do have a bendix for it. How about 175 and shipping on you?

There is one other engine I am looking at that is complete with electronics, let me talk to him a bit and Ill get back to you.
Sorry if this question seems noob, but what is a bendix?

The gear doodis between the flywheel and starter.
