I have to disagree with the usefulness of the 650 just because I play on the low end of the financial totem pole of thrashin out jet skis.
@BruceSki mentioned that you have to literally TRY to break a 650 and after almost 3 seasons of strait up abusing mine with water ingestion and hard riding I think THATS the main selling point on why to run one for the budget minded rider, especially for a 2nd boat. I see 701 based stuff needing engine work all the time. On a 650 its almost always electrical or carb related which is comparatively cheap to trouble shoot.
Pluuuusss if you wanna get fancy panced, you can throw like ANY aftermarket prop on a stock square and the difference is great. It starts to feel like a stock 701. Not saying more power...but 650's low end hooks you up RIGHT off idle.
Anyways, this is all just if you're broke. lol
I don't even know how my boat is pitched but you can throttle chop and ride at 20 mph slashin around. The power band is all low/mid and there is NOOOO top end at all. lol.
