951 Swap X2

Lol love it keep going I dig the build just would be surprised if it can keep up with a well tuned 800 X2 in race conditions.
I guess I’ll see how it compares to my pretty well modded 750, but at the end of the day it’s not a raceboat so I don’t expect it to perform like one. The main reasons why we did it, is because we’ve never seen it done, and a lot of people said it couldn’t be done, and we love a good ole 951 lol. Not too mention the hull and cases were free leftovers haha

I'm on the other side of the fence on this. I don't think the pipe mods will hurt much at all. I think it will be a wicked powerful little screamer.
Watch the plug color, rpm's, cylinder and exhaust temp after break in when you can really flog on it. If everything across the board seems a bit cool........maybe need a few more rpms.......I'd try shrinking the stinger outlet by 1mm.

Agreed. Thankyou!!

Getting closer and closer to spraying primer. Hopefully this week, then gonna flip it over & gelcoat the bottom black. After that it’ll go back to the shop and we will get the engine assembled & a final install! Gonna leave it in primer until we get it completely dialed in, because pulling the engine in & out of there without scratching it is impossible lol.

Crankshaft showed up yesterday, but upon further investigation we have decided to just put this used crankshaft that’s actually in really good shape inside a GTX that we recently bought in a package with an RX on a double trailer. RX runs great but the GTX had been sunk and needed a complete rebuild. So we sent that core off to Competitive Crankshafts and ordered a brand new one for the X2. I really don’t want this thing losing a bearing right as we start getting it dialed in. So decided to bite the bullet and pay the extra $200 for a high quality crank.

Had a break in the weather and decided to take this thing out for another test after swapping jets from 110 to 115 in the buckshots. We just assembled this thing last summer with the big pin 750 had it completely stock with stock 650 pipe. With the ada head at 185 psi, the jetpro pipe which came with the x2 that’s getting the 951, electronic water injection, and the buckshot 44s, for the love of god this thing absolutely yanks!!!

ROUGH first prime with some slick sand just to get some material build up on there. Now to gel coat the bottom.

First time spraying gel coat went great. Came out peely as expected, but nothing a little sand & buff won’t clean up. Crankshaft showed up yesterday, it’s time to put this thing together once and for all!

Things are going together smoothly. Decided to scuff up the floor of the hull and brush on some epoxy resin for when & if fuel settles down there it doesn’t eat up my finish. Didn’t do this on my 750 x2 and definitely regret it. But hopefully we won’t dump so much fkin fuel inside this one haha.

Bang bang! 148 pump installed & sealed ✅
Along with the custom driveshaft. Don’t mind the cheesy intake grate. A scoop grate will be going on soon. Making more progress inside the engine compartment. Lot of stuff to tuck back in there, bilge pump & siphon, rectifier, starter solenoid, air fuel separator, external fuel pump and Zeel are all gonna be tucked away back there. Surprisingly it’s almost easier to get back there compared to the 750 mod.
