Yes a Vice, Yamaha Driveshaft tool, The impeller tool that came with the impeller and big wrench. I used a hammer on the wrench and that didnt help so we found a pipe. Oh I sprayed WD-40 in there and let it sit a while, that seemed to help break it loose.

Hmm, I don't have the impeller tool that came with the impeller...

Know anyone who sells them?

Thanks

I am slowly setting up my ski "97 RN" up for freestyle ridding so I pulled the pump today to see what impeller I have. Its a Solas Concord YB-CD-13/17. I noticed in this thread most are running the Solas concord 13/15 to 16. Am I running to much pitch? I am running a 701 bored and ported to 760cc's with about 170 psi and dual 44's with a Factory type 4 pipe.

Would I be able to send in my impeller to get reworked to what I need or do I need to buy a completely new impeller? I'm in CA so it looks like Impros would be the best to send it to? Thanks for all the help.

Blowsion, Wamiltons, HotProducts, LegDrag...and many more. the real question

is who do you buy from? (Blowsion and HP is closest to you)

Normally blowsion... but since they send the wrong parts, forget parts, and are out of stock i'm gonna have to find other places to order from!!!!!!

I'd call IMPROS and talk to them about repitch and be sure to tell them exactly what you have.

Thanks to Eric I hope to test my new impeller sometime this week, was hoping for tomorrow but my new computer parts showed up so I spent today building that. :sly:

The 13/17 will be fine...If you do anything to it, get it cut back 3mm and it will also change the pitch. If you get that 13/17 cut back 3mm, you'll end up with a 13/16....:veryhappy:

How do you think they cut the blades back? Cut them off the hub and re-weld them??

From what I understand, they start with a higher pitch prop and move it back towards the pump ending up at the desired pitch.

That last 2 props I have had from Impros have 13/17 stamped on them, but have 13/16 -3 engraved.

I gather whats what your "what?" was referring to.

your understanding of these things is not correct

they dont cut the "blades" back.

they remove material from the back of the inner hub ( the threaded part), this moves the impeller further back into the pump.

an impeller that is 'cutback' has NOTHING to do with its pitch.

the impellers you have had ( with the engravings) have been "repitched", that is why they have different numbers engraved.

once again, just to hopefully NOT confuse any one.

cutback does NOT effect the pitch of an impeller.
cutback is one process
re-pitch is another process.

Why is it then that the last 2 NEW impellers I have had from Impros have had 13/17 stamped on them, but been the 13/16 -3 I requested? Also, on both props, the rear hub/blade area has been re-worked. Again, both BRAND NEW. I'll try to take a pic if you like.

One has come direct from Impros, and another from Impros via a very reputable shop

did you order them re-pitched to 13/16?

How do you know they are in fact a 13/16 pitch?

i the blade area has been 're-worked' they have likely been re-pitched.

the only thing done for a cutback is the milling or turning on a lathe of that area where the impeller contacts the washer on the pump.

according to your method of repitch-by cutting back it would be impossible to increase the pitch right?

These were orderd BRAND NEW. I asked for 13/16 -3. The pitch gauge I have confirms these are in fact 13/16.

Well, if these props have been re-worked....I have indeed been ripped off twice.

they ONLY come from solas as a 13/17 , to get a 13/16 they had to be re-pitched or what you are calling 're-worked'.

you didn't get ripped off, you got what you asked ( and paid) for, which was a repitched, and cutback impeller.

I am for sure not clear on why this confuses you so much?

:dunno:

I never said anything about being confused, I don't know why you would assume that. Maybe you're just a whole lot smarter than me, I am, after all just from Australia.

If I know what I want, I ask for it. In this case I asked for a 13/16 -3. I didn't look up any charts to see what pitches they were offered in from the factory. Can I get this? Yes! I'll take one.

As I said, 'from my understanding', sure, I may be wrong, and I'll admit that.

being from Australia has nothing to do with it!

I didnt at all mean to imply you were less smart, I promise I am NOT smart.

but, I know cutting an impeller back does NOT change the pitch.

I think from logical deduction here, we have decided that you got a re-pitch that you didnt realize you were asking for.

and, the only reason, I wanted to point that out, was so that other people wouldnt be confused when ordering, buying or shopping for impellers new or used.

IM envious, I wish I was as smart as you.

[ you MUST be smarter than me because, you live in AUSTRALIA!... I live in Arkansas and its like the arm pit of america!... bwwhahahahaaha]

Heh, Oz, has it's fair share of idiots as well!!

Well, I've learnt something, and hope other have as well. Thanks for your input! :)

Removed the pump Stuffer with the 13/17 Dominator prop and it made a huge difference. Glad I was able to save a little $$$ maybe this winter I'll play with cutback or repitching. cant believe I rode this ski so long with that other prop (14.5/18.5)
