i wasn;t saying you rode a 1200 sit down
the guy that actually won the footholds does

and that is why i am saying this didn't benefit him by winning this

dj had pre marked all the bags
1-5 and then goodies for everyone else in other bags
( i think, correct me if i am wrong dj)

like i said previously he must have forgotten what was in every bag
it was a misunderstanding

as i see it you had a good time
you got some free swag for having a good time
what else could you want?

granted i do feel bad, i know what it is like to get your hopes up . im sure dj will have more to say on the matter
at least your dgtr had "the time of her life"

I posted this on pwctoday, copying it here.

As mentioned, x-h2o is just a forum, and the freerides are organized by VOLUNTEERS that gain nothing from doing what they do to my knowledge.

You caution 'out of towners', but you have to realize that MOST of the riders at these freerides are from out of town. Myself, jetskee, blaster800, gj_fx1 all travelled quite a bit, myself over 350 miles. Freestylefest is the same.

One thing about the rides and giveaways, it's hard to organize it yet keep everything very relaxed. I know at Daytona one guy was miffed that he didn't get a bid recognized during an auction. Things happen unfortunately, but concerns were raised and the auction at the Southern Fried Freeride was run completely different and much better based on some suggestions out of Daytona.

If this were done out of true malice/greed, I'd be extremely shocked since dj is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and always trying to do something to promote the sport and I'm sure that tarnishing the Cleveland Rock-n-Ride is the last thing he'd ever consider.

Sorry you had a bad experience, and that I don't have any info as I wasn't involved and didn't do the poker run either.

if this was an actual tournament with YOUR money on the line i would agree its messed up, but its a freebee! and 5th place! where i come from thats losing and you will be lucky to get a bag of stickers. this whole matter of principal is just a cover so a grown man can act like a toddler.
there would be no way in hell i would let something so trivial ruin my time on a vacation.

you cant give some one a prise and then take it away its going to make for an upset person
because once they know they are getting it in there mind they already own it
and so it feels like its been stolen from them

hey i would be pissed as well

On the other hand it would seem that it was a mistake and i can understand how in the middle of it all it may have happened

to blame x-h20 is not right and in hindsight he understands that

However if the x-h20 name is plastered on banners then its assumed to be an x-h20 event

so what to do

Lets stop looking at the past
lets look to make it right for the guy
can we all get together and buy the guy a set of foot holds
hey it will take $2 each into a paypal account and he will have a set
Lets turn it from a bad experience to a good one thats show what sort of people we really are

I agree wax. Although I do not necessarily agree with what was said by raserx, I would probably be pissed too if I was expecting something and I didn't get it. Regardless if it was an innocent mistake or not. I would gladly throw in a few dollars to help rectify the issue.

Racer X,

I was in charge of the event and I apologize. I put all the prizes in bags numbered (1-20) the night before the ride. After we figured out all the poker hands and what places everybody was in, I thought the number your daughter had was footholds, and told you so, (I shouldn't have). The footholds were 6th place and the Nozzle Boring was 5th. I absolutely did no switching of any prizes. The prizes were in the trunk of my car in closed bags. I thought I knew what was in your daughter's bag and I was wrong. I absolutely apologize. I am sure the number on your daughter's white plastic bag was #5. The guy who won the footholds had absolutely no use for them (He rides a GPR 1200). I think he traded them to someone else. They were sent to me from RNR 2-Stroke. I do not know what kind they are, but they look homemade.

The prize you got was in a lower numbered bag and was worth more than the footholds and I didn't know you would be so disappointed. This is only the second event that I have put on and it was a lot of work and very confusing trying to get everything organized. Once again, I made a mistake and apologize. I hope you had a good time at the ride otherwise.

All the money collected for the poker run, ($110) will go to the Cleveland Women & Children's Home Charity. I made no money from this ride. (Actually, I spent a couple hundred setting it up). I do hope you will attend another Freeride Event because it was great meeting you and your daughter. I really tried my best to set it up as a laid back fun event.

Next year, I will make a board saying what prizes are in each bag and keep it with me on the beach.

Sincerely,

DJ Haberkorn.

(What I added to her bag was not a Blowsion Sticker. It was the certificate that my girlfriend printed out for me for the nozzle boring. I got the email from LPW the night before and was out of printer ink. She brought these to the beach for me. Same with the flywheel lightening certificate and the Rideplate certificate). Once again, this was my mistake and I am sorry. The X-H2O community had nothing to do with it.

i would say, as i watched the whole thing, it was a miscommunication issue.

dj had all the prizes in his car and was trying to talk from memory while at the beach.

the guy that won the foot holds can not even use them.
he rides a 1200, has no stand up to even use them in.
so really was not a gain for a
"local buddy"!

im sure if you would have talked to phil, the guy that won them, he would have worked a swap.

dj worked very very hard to get this to go off and is always one to try to promote the good side of the sport.
i don't think it is too fair to come here and bash with out knowing both sides of the issue. i am sure he meant no ill buy accidentally telling you your dgtr won the holds. it was just a mistake

believe me, phil did not get over on anyone by winning those foot holds
if dj was trying to hook a buddy up i would have got those from him as i need them

im sure dj will have more to say as i saw this as an observer

x1 million.

I can't even belive this thread. Some one just delete this. This guy is way off. Only part of this thread that will be deleted is your comment about one of the ski's that he owns...........

How can a man of principal be such a tool.

It was excellent riding with all you guys on Sunday. Looking forward to the rest of the summer. Matt you need to help me with the aerial stab. Figure that is a good trick to learn first. Gotta get some kind of temporary footholds(until winter) Props to DJKORN for all his hard work.

Like others have said, picture yourself in the same situation and thinking your going to receive those footholds when they are given to another person because the bag #'s were mixed up and all you get is an apology and something in return that isn't near the value of the footholds. I would be extremely pissed off as well if that happened to me.

I understand mistakes do happen, but telling someone what they won and give them something completely different that isn't of much value will make that person question the credibility of those members and how they treat others as well!!!!!!!

The nozzle boring was worth more than the footholds that he thought they were supposed to get.

Who's doing your nozzle boring? If whoever bores your nozzle charges you more than a set of footholds you need to find a new nozzle borer. I don't know of any name brand footholds that are less than $100.

he said they werent name brand footholds, they were by a company called rnr 2 stroke. Said they even looked homemade.

I vented on the other forum , what a waste of band-width ! Nice job DJ!! Ill be there next year again ,this was a great ride and im sure it will only get bigger , one little complaint from 2 events wont get in the way of this event , Im sure most riders will through this FOG ! IMO Let he who casts the first complaint be in charge of the raffle next year and the year after !!! Great ride & Great bunch of people ! Now ..wheres the beach !

Ok? Even for $70, that's more than nozzle boring. At least where I get mine bored. Who pays $70 for nozzle boring? Almost any machine shop will do a nice tapered bore for you for $50 or less.
