Custom/Hybrid Adjustable length Superfreak

I considered selling my hull, my friends said I was crazy, so I proved them right! I took a mold off the ski before I started cutting, layed up a plate. Used that to mark out the area to recess. I drilled and tapped SS. plates that I glued and glassed in. I cut off 4.5 inches first then the area that is recessed. I will be able to go as short as almost -9 back out to the original -4.3.

Also winter in MI makes you a bit crazy I think! This was well thought out and has been very times consuming, like every evening after work and all weekend, for about three weeks now!

Wow...f**king crazy is right, but its a cool concept. I've thought along these same lines. I hate that u cut up that beaut of a ski though. This is pretty much how a chan is set up and you can simply have multiple ride plates to suit where ur riding on that day. I think chans are a -13" and I've had ride plates from +2" off hull to +9" off the hull. If I had kept my old freak this would have been the exact mod.

Wow, yet another reason that I shouldn't have sold mine. I could have done this, had you make me a couple tailplates and.... done. Grrrr, several thousand dollars later, no surf ski, and then I see this... damn! FML!

I wanted to do this exact mod but I turned the ski upside down and started figuring it out in my head and I realized it seemed like a LOT of work so I didn't. I can tell I was right. Good job.

Thanks guys, This is more work than I care to do, but it is do able, not opening up the tray was the tricky part! I talked to Tem about having one made like this, but it would have been a stretch financially, I think it is really gonna be sweet having a short ski for at the lake every Tuesday, and hopefully it feels close to how it did before in surf!
