Hey, I'm in the process of putting a kawi 650 pump in my fx, I'm to the point in my build of installing my inserts that the mounting bolts from the pump screw in to. I've done some research but looking for a few words of wisdom. Thanks

Most glass in larger aluminum plates and drill tap during install
Would you have to attach to the tray some how yet for strength? I've got my glass work pretty much done under my pump but if the plate is the way then I'm all ears

The gflex works great (@DAG).l've used in several builds. As far as the inserts,l like using stainless blocks .3/4" x 3/4" square. You can use 3/8" thick or whatever you feel more comfortable.A little anal but you never have any issues (it will gauld) with stainless.
Encapsulate the inserts with fiberglass,so it won't leak too.My $.02 :D

That's funny cuz I made some out of 1/2 inch bolts that looked identical lol my real question is the install, like do I grind the foam out for an inch around the insert and put epoxy in first? Then install and glass top and bottom? The inserts come down from the tray right? .......Iowa boy never been around too many ski builds

You can pack the threaded portion of the insert with clay so epoxy/gflex does not run into them. Then just chase the clay out with a tap.

Man that's awesome, I was thinkin in my head how I could do it and not get glass/resin in there, can't wait to go home and work on it. Thanks for all the help!!! :D

Never did gflex but epoxy I wouldn't think so unless it was like a 1/2 inch thick puddle
Correction: the heat comes from the cure so by that time it's already gelled. Make sense.

Oem yami pump inserts are awesome and affordable. Brass and they are designed to mount from tray side. We stock them. Blair has one in his pic.

Can they be regular steel? I turned some on the lathe that look nice but I don't want any trouble down the road
