If you are actually doing a paint finish on these skis Duratec primer sprayed into the mold would be a good option for you, it should crosslink pretty well with vinyl ester or poly resin also

Terry, we were first using epoxy primer in the molds, and epoxy resin. We still found pinholes and tiny air pockets behind the primer in the laminate that did not show up until we lightly sanded the primer. We found it was best to lay up just glass and resin over the pva. Then you can see any imperfections before priming.

My Trinity is gelcoat and so is ScottS's. We are the exception though and not the rule. Bobby hates gelcoat for all the reasons mentioned above. I had to twist his arm pretty good to do mine and had it been any model other than the "ES", he would have talked me out of it.

Hallo Brian,
Our Hulls come out of mould in highgloss black gelcoat or highgloss visualcarbon.
Years ago we had the same ploblems with small pinhole ans airbubbles. You can lay 1-3 layers of lowweight glas and let it hardened without vacuum. A dark gelcoar make this work easyer.

Now we work with vacuuminfusion and the quality is awersom.

You have to work on your skills to get hulls out of mould ind highgloss finish with no paintwork. Every hour you spend on hull after remoulding you loose money.........

Today out of mould.........with no failarea, no pinholes, no airbubbles!!!

You have to make a highgloss "plug"??? ( sorry for my bad english) .
We use no PVC mouldrelies. Siliconfree wax only. Then your part look 100%similar to your
plug
