I have been chasing an issue now for about a week. Looking for air leaks etc. It ran pretty good after the last carb cleaning. Lately it's been flat on the midrange and leaving the front plug looking lean. I checked for air leaks etc. I decided to open up the carb on the lean cylinder to see what I could find... the 2 screws that hold the plate over the Jets had come loose and were stopping the diaphragm from moving in enough to open the needle valve. I thought I should post this to help others that may spend lots of time chasing something stupid like I have. After I switched back to total loss I tore the carbs down to clean so I knew I had a fresh start. Moral of the story, slow down and check everything twice!
@philipclemmons thanks for pointing me at carbs to solve the issue in the first place.
