Another dang FX1 pump thread......

Won't work the fx1 shaft is smaller in dia. So even if you could respline it would be too small.. Plus why go through all the work when fitting the new size bearing in the shaft housing works great with the sxi shaft. The Yamaha coupler threads right on the sxi shaft and it's the perfect length... I just finish this swap two weeks ago.
Can you shoot me a text so I can ask some questions? 5097237531

Sure it'll be a day or so... Every thing you need to know is in this tread just read it very carefully... Especially the first two pages and then page 5 were someone chimes in and talks about using a different size bearing in the Yamaha retainer instead of the kawi bearing retainer.. Super easy to do just go slow. That's the hidden fact in this tread and it's the better way to do it! Oh and I tried to one up special fx by putting a handle bar cable trim in it'll work but you'll really need to come up with some strong cable bracket and return spring and getting it all to jive mine works sort of! Ps I feel like my ski is top end faster could be because of the tbm nose cone I have in it right now and being close to 300 but it's not as bottom end hard as it was stock granted I did put on 25 pounds between swaps also my trim return spring might not be strong enough to hold the pump at the level of down trim so that nozzle could be moving up and down under trust so till I get that sorted I really don't know once I'm up and planed it's got hook for days and will jump me out of the water off little waves in fact it caught me off guard once and I completely did my first full sub which was awesome!!!!!

what impeller are you running??? I am running the same trim setup as you it sounds like (trim cable and springs to return it to neutral) and I set my impeller back about 4mm and it increased the hook up dramatically, my motor is already running 180 psi compression with a few mods and the pump really loads it down. I could go to like a 7/15 impeller I think but I'm going with big bore setup :)

^^^ I imagine steering is much better also. I will add this to my list but for now I am going to stay the course. Do you still use or have your moded SRX prop and R&D cone for the 650 pump? I might know a buyer ( ME )

I have an impros swirl fx1 prop I cut back and put kick on it. Finially I have the hookup I need. This thing is glued to the water now.
Im running a 701 with b-pipe and enhancer and its a weapon. I used to have a huge engine in it and it was not as much fun this thing now is awesome

Only think I'm hung up on is which drive shaft to use. I've head zxi 900 and I've heard sxi 750

I also modded an R&D pump cone and 800 SXR prop to fit the 650 pump. To make this work you need to fabricate a 4mm spacer to fit between the cone and the rear surface of the stock hub. With this mod the cone fits great.

The SXR prop needs to be machined to set it back into the 650 pump. I set it back 6mm, but it could go further and not interfere with the pump cone.

I'm not going to run with this pump cone/prop at first, cause I want to get a good baseline utilizing a stock setup and then run this to see how much difference it makes.
I know this is a old thread. But I'm doing the kawi 140 pump upgrade and want to know how to install the 800 SXR prop, what machining needs to be done. What pump cone is needed

To install the sxr prop, you simply remove the old 140mm kawi prop, if you have one in the donor pump. then thread the sxr prop onto the shaft, youll want to check your pump bearings and seals. in order for the sxr prop to fit into the pump without any clearance issues, you want to have approx 5mm cut back (off ) the rear or the prop hub, this is at the back behind the blades. At this point all will work just fine. if you want to bump performance up another notch. find a R&D afterburner or blowsion/TBM core sleeve. this will increase your hub section inside the pump to approx 74mm. The sxr prop has a 75mm clearance. But in order for all this to work, you will need a spacer made up to fit the sx/x2 pump. RadDudes sells them.
Then all bolts together, easy peasy.

If you have a sxr prop and need it cut back quickly and low cost. PM @speedysprocket . He can take care of it

That good info. Yea I have the pump w. out prop(bearings feel good in pump). Have the 900zxi drive shaft. Just ordered two skf 20x52x15 stainless bearings and two 20x52x7 seals. Still need the sxr prop. If anyone has a clean one for sale I need it. Where do I find these R&D afterburner cone or the TBM cone sleeve setups. Is one better than the other. What is the going price? Can you get them used. Sorry for all the questions I'm new to all this. I'm not even going to do the fiberglass work myself. Local shops going to do it for me. I want it done right :)

you can find the afterburner by R&D at most online retailers- Blowsion is a dead knockoff and is available thru them. TBM is pretty much the same as both others. TBM does offer interchangeable end cones if my memory serves me correct. The R&D has a shim pack with it that you can stack up and tailor your pump cone settings. I have seen them used. Since people upgrade often.. Honestly, I'd put out a want to buy thread on one. And ask the Kawi X2 and SXR guys. You may try your luck over at PWCtoday.com If nothing pops up here. I recall seeing a thread recently about a sxr prop for sale.

The 900zxi shaft is what you need. and you really only need one stainless bearing for your midshaft housing. 2 bearings maybe overkill and not even sit on the machined part of the Dshaft.

Thanks, I did buy the sxr prop on eBay. And did post on PWC site looking for a pump cone stuffer or whatever there supposed to be called. Thanks

Parts purchased: 140 pump with X2 tilt nozzle, ZXI 1100 shaft, SXR800 prop, r&d pump stuffer and tom21 sponsons.

Got the 140 pump and Tom21 sponsons installed. Some of the issues I was looking to improve was lack of hook up and better carving. After the mods were done the ski was definitely more stable and easier to ride. Hook up was better but not dramaticly better. With the tom21 sponsons it dose carve now but only at mid speed turns. The pump is stronger too but still unhooks in turns. Not glued to the water like my superjet.

The X2 nozzle was ditched for a fixed raider nozzle. Could the hookup and the lack of carving at lower speeds be a trim adjustment?
