damn boyer... you need more time to ride and less time to look pretty.... LOL...

Just messin with ya, wheels look killer!!!

Lol, Saturday was actually my first day back on the water in 4 months and damn it felt good. I'm actually plotting a very clever scheme where I convince my wife that me going riding every weekend is far less expensive than me sitting at home ordering parts just to kill the boredom.

The aluminum frame of the trailer was worth every penny of that $110 but yes, I have added a ton of value to it since. The orange covering is a 2" HDPE plastic tubing. I just picked up some aluminum tubing to redo the bunks and I have enough of the orange material left to cover them too.

I actually scored another sweet Triton Elite a couple weeks ago and passed it on to ScottS so we've been scheming together on how to build the ultimate trailers. The clear 5 spoke rim in the above pics are for his trailer.

His is actually turning out even sweeter than mine plus the Elite has some pretty sweet adjustability options that mine does not have.

It comes in 1000ft rolls for direct burial of utilities along roadways and in subdivisions. If you are lucky and can find someone doing a project, there is a good chance you can make a deal for the scraps and leftovers. I shadowed a fiber optic upgrade project along my route to work for months and managed to pick up 250ft of various lengths but it is all gone now except for the few pieces I have saved for my trailer.

I have looked into buying it outright but they want $3-4/ft for it. The good news is, it comes in lots of different colors since each color is meant to indicate a different utility. Orange is communications, yellow is natural gas. I have seen blue, dark red, green, white and gray on a roadside job in Florida.

Well I took ScottS advise and swapped the tires over myself. What a PITA but its done and I saved $30. The worst part is, now my rims are shinier than my trailer. :(

Strike one more project off the to-do list.

I picked up my new Aluminum bunks from my buddy Steve this weekend and I couldn't be happier. They turned out exactly how I planned and they fit amazing. As always, Steve did an awesome job welding it up for me and I couldn't wait to swap out the old bunks today.

In case you are wondering, I had him add a 5th bunk so I can haul a single ski in the middle on the proper spacing. Unfortunately I only had 4 pieces of the orange bunk material set aside at the proper length but luckily I managed to find a scrap that was only a couple inches short.

I still need to grind the welds off the axle and move it forward a couple inches to improve the balance of the trailer so the skis don't hang off the back quite so far but it's getting closer to being finished.

Here's a quick before pic

I contacted Triton this week looking for some frame parts so I could make my axle adjustable like the Elite series and what a disappointment. I couldn't get a straight answer about anything much less any parts out of them so it looks like I will have to come up with my own setup.

They suggested I purchase a utility trailer.

As some of you already know, SC is a non title state for small trailers. After reading about several issues with guys pulling trailers out of state without tags, plus the idea that we may want to someday relocate to a title state, I decided that I should at least make a small effort to see if I could track down the title for this Triton. Remember that I purchased this trailer in April of last year.

After some digging I managed to track down the bill of sale. It listed the original owners name and phone number. Lucky for me the number was still good and one quick call later I had the old owner digging thru her paperwork and low and behold, she had the title still! What a stroke of luck that somebody would even bother to register and title a trailer a non title state, not to mention hold onto it for over a year after the trailer was sold! I drove to her house friday night to pick up the title and had her sign a proper SC bill of sale with fridays date on it.

Long story short, I got the title in hand today and a nice shiny new plate for the trailer. 16 months after making the purchase and it only took 4 days to track down the title and make her an honest trailer.

Triton makes a great trailer. It's best to find a good dealer and get your parts from them. My dealer hooked me up with new 2012 elite 2 place. triton trailer.jpg
