wow that ski was poorly prepped for glasswork. cut it all out and go with a non water absorbent foam and add drains. make sure to sand well and remove paint for the glass to adhere this time around. Acetone on the surface before you lay the glass.

thanks, ive been looking for a good thread with plenty of pics. this will be my first go at a refoam plus i want to move the footholds foward a little.

really though, you have to cut them out & grind all that mess off the hull and footholds before you relay glass. it does not even look like epoxy.

Use boat dock foam. You can find it used and the boat store just gave me a huge block. Cut the exterior off about 2 or 3 inches deep and the foam should be like brand new. Just use a hand saw to cut and a sander to form if you need too. That stuff takes load very well too.

making a little progess. my buddy roundman has no problems cutting on my ski

thats the normal stuff people use, I was at Comp Canada a few weeks ago and noticed they had polystyrene 2 part foam. i would use that if i was pouring in foam, that other stuff will be waterlogged in a season.

Really, I foamed my ski in 2007, it is not waterlogged yet. When I got it, I refoamed it, I wasted my time. Wamilton had prepped the hull in January 2001. Everything was still dry in 2007. They get waterlogged when the hull is not sealed up properly. I have had my fair share of not sealed up properly hulls. It can be done.
