FX-1 Another sj guy bought a fx1

so somehow I got on an fx1 kick, so I figured I'd find one this winter.
Just picked up this mint baby tonight. Pretty stoked!
Gonna do some more mods, but keep it as factory looking as I can.

First things first I want to widen the tray and put in holds. I really want to keep the exact purple color that the sides are. Does anyone make turf that color?

Other thing I want to do is a cold fusion pole bracket with a xmetal pole and steering. I saw that on here, and it looked sweet! But I want to PC the xmetal white and have the oem pole stickers made to put on the xmetal.

Hydro turf makes a purple turf in various patterns. Also blacktip makes purple turf but is often a bit slick and slippery compared to the hydroturf. Nice ski there with the west coast head and bpipe and vilder arrestor. Got some very nice mods. Wide tray will help if your used to a sj and like more room. Just don't go too wide and not allow for depth of footholds. Or you could go bob style or ninja style adjustables. Aluminum poles are great as the fx1 poles tend to crack and snap. But they can be to reinforced and last a very long time. Look into a cold fusion or wet racer billet front hood hook if you don't have one. They help hold the hood down right and keep water out. Also less to fumble with when installing or taking good off. If your running the stock pump and repitched skat prop and msd enhancer will finish the power package nicely. Next would be a pump upgrade and there's many threads to read into about that if you choose to do so. Nice ski good luck and enjoy it ! Welcome to the fx cult

Thanks!
Yeah it has msd, scoop grate, ride plate, and I was told it has a blowsion prop. I'm pretty sure blowsion uses skat, but I don't know the pitch. Anyone know what they use?
It looks brand new, I glanced at it to make sure he was telling the true.
Also, everyone seems to think the swirl is the best.... Is it worth taking that blowsion skat out and getting a swirl?
I was planning on doing a 144 pump since I have a cut up sn hull laying here, but I'm thinking I'll run the stock pump this summer and see how it goes.
Thanks for the info. I need all I can get on these. I've built lots of superjets, but never even looked into fx1s until now.

So it was hard to cut into a mint ski, but I hate to do it.
Making footholds and I chopped some of the rear of the tray off.
For some reason the gap on the rear drives me nuts. The top of the rail has like a 1.5" step down thing. And the rear part it like 6". Just doesn't look right, so I cut it to 1.5" from the step down. Like the top part is. Not done cutting but here's a picture of what I'm talking about.
Also I plan on still using the stock purple covers. I'm just going to cut them down and wrap the vinyl back. So it still looks kinda factory. And turf the holds and bottom of try the oem purple.

Wanna do something like the last picture

I had tom21 do something pretty similar on my new hull...here's some pics. Wish I had that pick of BKs ski to show him! It needs a little bit of tweaking but it's pretty close!

What do you guys think about toe caps? Or foothold cap, whatever you want to call it.
Made some today. Thinking about doing it to the fx1

Tight In and Easy Out!! haha but yes I am in process of this as well on my fx. I have been following this build and it reminds me of another who did the same. Trimmed down rear rails ( I hate them too ) and tapered some foot holds at the very rear of tray like you. check it out. You really don't need the toe covers/pockets. in a panic you need to move or get out. ( pics are not my current ski-just for reference )

-If you ever choose surf stance ( maybe later ) most guys run a strap at rear corner of tray and end up locking shoe in it. only to have their toes protruding into the foot hold cavity.. thus not even using the holds anymore... like this:

hell ya!!! thats exactly what I'm doing! never seen that one before. thanks for the pictures. Where is his build? link?
so no enclosures on the footholds? I don't like to kick in, i like to just be able to put my feet in with a snug fit. Thats why i thought the enclosure might be good for me.

Got the new cold fusion parts on.
Pole base, mount and hood hook.
Ready to fiberglass when I get some warmer days.
