Generally speaking, with more cells you run less of a chance of over-discharging the battery, which tends to kill batteries with lithium chemistry.

Proper care and charging is a must. I've been taping the seems on mine to add insurance from water intrusion. Been on same two (16s) in both my skis all summer.

You know, my few LiFePO's have been fine when I was always using them. They would quit when I wasn't using them for some reason.

Water intrusion.........when you're using/charging they are fine. Once they sit, the water creates a path for them to discharge to almost nothing, and they won't come back.

its sad for a battery at this price point to have such a crappy cheap thin plastic casing and be so prone to leak. They are way to brittle and fragile I would expect thermoplastic,or the like ..quality seam construction and bullet proof terminals. This battery works great,if the build quality was better it would ultimately hold a better long term reputation and sell far better im sure!

I just had my second 16 cell crap out on me this season. I charge it every single time I ride and I have never had the voltage drop down too low. I'm using AG's charger, but I'm probably going to upgrade my charger and see if that helps. Hopefully my first warranty battery shows up at my house this week.

I wonder if these batteries would be worth a try: http://earthxmotorsports.com/products-page/personal-watercraft/etx24c/
They have a full 2 year non pro rated warranty.

From what I've been through I see AG batteries not being fit for long distance rides (chasing boats) on a charging system. I do alot of starting and stopping and after every ride I check the voltage and it stays between 13.75-14v. Today was different I did all long distance riding and came home to a battery that was 14.5v. Not overcharged but higher then normal. This is just my personal opinion, I'm not a battery guy I just check my :):):):) on a regular basis

I got off the phone this afternoon with anti gravity... Sent them my dead 12 cell two weeks ago and had to call them to find out about it.
They said because I ride "freestyle", the battery can't handle the starts and stops and they're going to revise they're warranty policy to reflect that.
They won't replace my battery.
They offered an upgrade by paying the difference and then they'd take 10% off. He didn't even want me to get a 16 cell, wanted bigger.
I talked him into the 16 cell, which was $70, minus $7 plus $12 for shipping. So $75 more I'm getting a 16 cell- with no warranty...
I guess if/when this dies, I'll take my chances again with them, but they're not getting anymore money from me.

LOL - so they will not honor the warranty that the battery shipped with. Classic, starting to sound like Ballistic.

Well, I guess that's another LiFePO battery manufacturer to cross off the list.

I just got off the phone with AG and they told me the exact same thing. I just put in my third 16 cell this season today. They recommended going to their 20 or 24 cell, but said they can't guarantee those will work any better. I talked on the phone today with Shorai, who make a Lithium Iron battery and they recommended their LFX36 and said it should work great for our application and be more reliable than the AG battery. I was also intrigued by EarthX and talked to them today too, they said their batteries have built in circuitry to protect from over charge and discharge and they self balance without the need for any special charger. EarthX's battery is only slightly bigger than the AG 16 cell and might even fit in my cold fusion micro battery holder, unfortuantely I don't think the Shorai would. I think I'm going to be trying out the EarthX battery.

I've put around 150hrs on the 12 cell AG battery I'm running. I guess I'm not freestyling correctly. :^/

The concern isn't the few instances of a properly working battery (that should be the norm).
The concern is the abnormal failure rate and the refusal to honor the warranty.

Good for you that yours keeps working. Unfortunately that is of no help to those who have paid for a battery as you have, only to receive a defective product that is not being replaced by the manufacturer, as it should.

We have 2 other 20 cells in our group that both cracked around the terminals easily, sealed with epoxy and knock on wood both are still working well otherwise,we will see for how much longer
