Any Michigan members??

with knowledge of MI laws? ran into an issue yesterday (friday 13th go figure). good news after 45 minutes in jail they let me go (no bond money or anything??) (they even let me drive to the police station??) to pick up my new ski (that i drove 8 hours to get). bad news is they say i am being charged with a felony? weirdest thing i have ever experienced. looking for any michiganers that might have info as to what to expect.

any helpful suggestions would be appreciated - you have a beautiful state, weird laws.

Thanks
Bob

at least the ski made it home safe - will i have the money to finish putting it together??

well lets put it this way - i got pulled over for an illegal license plate frame?? (never heard of that one) - and got busted for something that in any other state seems to be a small fine but in michigan it seems to be a felony. and i hear it will be totally legal in mi in a short time. i have the best luck sometimes....

"Bob" marley lol. You got luck they did not take the ski, have been pulled over in Mi and had to show Id that matched the reg of each ski.

Sounds like the license plate thing is BS and you got busted for pot. How old are you? Where in Michigan?

I've lived in both states and just leave the pot at home! Michigan is very relaxed when you reside there but you have an out of state vehicle and had pot in your car...they just wanted to take advantage haha

Good luck with court

Looks like simple possession in Michigan is charged as a misdemeanor carrying up to a $2k fine and up to 1 year incarceration. I think the cops were blowing smoke when they told you it was a felony.

Dont live in MI but I imagine as in other states process they will introduce it as a felony to the judge but with counsel and no priors reduce it to a misdemeanor/probation with fines possible classes or work release ect .With todays more lenient marijuana laws if pulled over while driving constables will be leaning more towards DUI than possession charges IMO theres more money in the DUI for the courts ,plus the obvious danger to public safety factor .but this being said they wouldnt let you drive your car to the station if you were under arrest for DUI , it sounds like you face a possession charge

A felony charge likely means you had over the amount deemed "personal" . Here the police look at that like "intent to distribute". Basically calling you a drug dealer.

I'm in Michigan but macomb county isn't my area to recommend lawyers. How many ounces or pounds?
