ok, now your catching on.....
downwards on that wave you'd be pushing 50-55-60 on a ski
I cant even do that on pure glass flatwater for more than a couple of seconds...
imagine doing it in 'chop', with a foam breathing monster roaring behind you...that thing woudl pick the back end of the ski up and it'd be over
you'd get picked out of the coral
well I can and have had to in the Niagara....what else you gonna do?

that is what im saying..you could probally get in super early and outrun it but there is no way your going down the line on that wave or dropping in even as late as he did (which wasnt late at all)
Um....he was doing fine without a 700cc 144mm pump to get him out of it.

I think at the most it will be a ride in front of the wave and by "in front" of the wave I mean 20 to 30 feet safety cushion and out of the way.....like the guy on the Couch below.....

so you are claiming you could/would pull into a tube let alone on a 20ft wave?? you do realize the only person to have a picture of themselves doing that is TC and the wave wasnt 20ft..u must be the best surfrider in the world then ahha
Wow...I didn't expect inland Oregonians to have the West coast surf elitist mentality.
I have to ride up and down and up and down and up and down and all around 13's with 2 second intervals. Granted not always but enough to know I could get myself into the front of the tube of a 20 footer. More like obviously not a problem.

Well I can tell you I would have no problem getting further back in that wave you were in. I mean that. I don't see the big deal. And please...someone not post "you don't know the dangers!" It has been posted and I understand them.

I said what I said because there is only a small handful of riders that can pull it off, and it's a pretty safe bet you're not one of them.
This isn't supposed to be an a dig at you - it's very simple, there's thousands of riders, only a small handful can do it, so what are the chances you're one of them?
I'll go a bit further and not single you out: 99.5% of riders on this board can't do it. In fact, I can think of only two.
I can't get in a barrel in ANY wave, I don't know how to surf ride.
I think it's mighty arrogant to assume that YOU can when you've never ever been in conditions like that.
