Other Any plans for the 2013 Spring Break Pismo Ride?

Common sense, dont go out past your comfort zone, Just go out and have some fun...

Thanks. common sense is what's gotten me this far in life so i think i'm good with that...what about safety items for the ski and me. do i need a lanyard kill switch, can anyone recommend a good helmet?

So you went by security with wires, a switch and an enclosed plastic housing? Haha Noice!

Btw Do you ride with joe from brigatine? That dude rips!

Ha, I know. I had everything but the bilge, can get that anywhere. But wires, connectors, fuse, hose.

I have not been riding that long. But I'm sure I seem him at brig freeride. All those fx-1 guys rip.

[h=5]Just to remind everyone here, I posted this on Facebook.

Hey everyone! pretty excited for this event, always a great time with friends and family. I will be holding free demos on the Krash Industries Footrocket, as well as the JB-1, and we will have Burn-Industries Gear on site and for sale at the booth in front of our Burn-Industries Trailer. Hit me up on here or on the beach if you want to take a Krash ski for a spin and if anyone orders Burn gear, we can hand it over to you at the event! visit www.Burn-Industriesusa.com for a full list of Burn Product.

I have a 550 with mods but have never been in the surf. Would it be a bad idea to make my first surf ride that weekend? Or should i just go out to oceanside and get some surf time in?
Come on out. Enjoy yourself. Be safe. Get hooked. Afterwards upgrade your 550 to a Squarenose. Then grab a limited roundnouse. Then buy an RTR bob for too much money. It's what I did. All the cool kids do it.

I'd say ride at Pismo for sure. The waves don't look too big this weekend. Actually at Pismo you ride right off the beach, while at O-side you have to ride for a ways to get to the ride spot, so Pismo may be better for a first timer.

As mentioned be smart. Start in the small white water near the beach. Start small and work your way up. Don't let go of the ski, it's your flotation, and your ride to get you out of danger areas. The danger area is where the waves are breaking.

I think there was a thread on here for first time ocean riding but I can't find it.

I first rode surf on a bone stock 550 in 1990 or so. All you really need is a reliable ski and a life vest. We'd go ride in a lake after the ocean, that was our flush.

The first thing you'll want is a flush kit installed. Unless you can ride fresh water after. Either way your going to want to wash the whole thing down, engine and all to get the salt off after your are done for the weekend.

You could ride without a wetsuit, gloves, and shoes, but you wouldn't want to for more than a few minutes. I use wrestling shoes with neoprene socks. I just added a neoprene beanie to wear under my helmet.

I use a lacrosse helmet, it's got a great faceguard, and the lining doesn't absorb water. BMX full face helmets are good too. You want face protection for when you pitch forward and smack the pole.

A bilge is good insurance if your boat gets dunked, but not an absolute necessity if you are riding conservatively and don't crash and lose your boat in the breaking waves or submerge it.
