Surfriding Anyone convert a standup hull to a trailer to haul extra fuel?

We had to carry extra fuel out to a new riding spot and it was a pita! For the new spot to be viable we would need a way to haul extra fuel out in a more efficient manner. Has anyone converted or modified a standup hull for this job yet?

Seal all the inlets, rig up straps under the hood and in the tray...a matching rn hull would look much better than a hydro trailer.

I question balance as well. A standup hull may be too narrow to be stable enough.

I junked 3 sitdown hulls this year that would have worked perfect...

how long is the ride out?

sounds like you need to find a new launch spot

The ride out is easily 3 to 4 times as far as anything you guys do now. There are 2 launches to access this spot and they are both roughly the same distance. This is also a major channel for traffic with boats cruising at full speed in each direction. There's 4 more other locations I've plotted out to try yet. The surf in this spot was good but not great and there's no way to tell how it holds up during the year.

I love that idea!!

how bout a simple large innertube, or a cheap tow behind tube???

How hard would that be to tow with a standup?

How much fuel are you looking to take out? Are you riding on flat or surf on the way out?

3 guys would need at least 5 gallons each so I'd say 15 to 20 gallons tops. Even at that you may have to make a couple trips to get an epic day of riding done.

a pontoon would be an ideal solution for you....cant remmber if you have been at the spot when ours is around..

I dont see any reason why towing a tube would be any trick at all...the trick is going to be not capsizing and dumping the cans into the water

maybe even some kind of a cheap flatbottom skiff????

I'm leaning towards a small sitdown hull with the top removed. Line it like a boston whaler with a flat platform in the center to strap stuff down. Basically make a scaled down version of a boston whaler for cargo.

If it cost me $100 that would be too much though. It was really just an idea to think about on the long drive home.

you know.... Phil and I were just discussing this last saturday on the water
the Hydro trailer is nice, and i saw one in person
but the idea i had was buy a used 300sx or maybe a 440/550 etc strip it down
gut it, seal it, and it should work

its that or we stay like we are, running out of gas as we make it to the dock, which i know is BAD for the motor
