Had to put this good boi down yesterday. He ended up with liver failure and fluid around his lungs. He was my best friend and without him I never would have made it thru the death of my Dad, my divorce, and my recent bout with cancer. I think he stuck around just long enough for my doctors to give me the 'all clear'. Tobey was the absolute best and I don't think I'll ever stop crying.

My dog is about to kick it. 19 years old and starting to pee and poo while he is asleep.

Any recommendations on a small/medium dog that is not too high energy? Mix is fine. Doesn't shed would be a plus. :)

As you may recall I lost my boy Tobey on 12/26/22. I live alone most of the time, and really need a dog for a million different reasons but mostly for my physical and mental well being. So I began a dog search pretty quickly. Now there is no WAY another dog could ever replace Tobey, so this was certainly not done with any disrespect for my recently passed little buddy. So I looked at about a zillion dogs online and at local shelters and as soon as I saw this guy something clicked. I did the paperwork and had him shipped from Houston TX up to CT (it was as far north as they would travel), and my gf and I finally got to meet him and take him home about 2:15 AM this morning. He was in a foster home, not a shelter, which was nice. They had given him the name Peanut Butter, so that had to go. The pictures don't do him justice but he is brindle in color and in the sun looks almost like a tiger. So he is now Hobbes, named for a character in my favorite comic as a kid and as an adult. I'm in love already even though he left a turd the size of a small child on my living room rug last night when I went to take a leak. Here he is:
