Anyone have this happens jugs fill with gas while ski just sits on dock? stock motor 2004 SJ stock carbs cleaned carb and new carb kit but when ski just sits there it fills the cylinders with fuel?

thought about that but my understanding is it only lets fuel into tank not out to build pressure.....im guessing with temp changes the tank is pressurizing and pushing fuel but what is not holding it back?

If its hot and your ski is gonna sit in the sun, you should loosen your gas cap from time to time to release the pressure. But dont forget to put it back on tight

X2 my hx was sitting out in the sun this weekend with a full tank squirting gas all over through the overflow

The valve is working right. Its simple expansion from heat and pressure builds up. The pressure has to go somewhere and through the needle and seat is the only place for relief.

popoff is low and its opening the needle and seat like he said.

the other thing to check is the long exhaust hose. I had an isse once with a set of 44's where it the hose was blocking the hole for the diaphraghm side of the carb and sticking the needle open. it would fill the cylinder to the top and wouldn't even crank. Lucky I didn't hydro lock it.

I crack my gas cap at the end of every ride and leave it cracked until next ride. Otherwise, motor will fill and/or fuel will leak into engine compartment.

This is semi-dependent on pop-off pressure....the lower it is, the more at risk you are.

My ski is stock and sits outside all of the time. The cover probably helps out with the heat some. Heat should build pressure but not flood the motor. At least not stock.

did you check the long exhaust hose? When I ran dual 44's I had this problem. They are different sized carbs than 38's and the hose will block the diaphragm hole.
