Everything l have heard or read about a KLR is positive. That one is on the short list2005 KLR650 with a few mods.
A bit heavy, didn't do anything really well, but does it all, all the time. And pretty easy to work on.
You’ll have a blast with that bike. Wear a little backpack with a hydro pack inside for the long rides. Pack some granola bars. If your in a lot of dirt trails, ride with 12-15 psi in both tires. On the road around 20-22. Makes a huge difference with tire pressure especially in the dirt. I’ll pack my small tire gauge with me to lower down n hopefully theirs a place where I can fill back up or I just deal with the low pressure going back. There’s small bike pumps that will fit into a bag also. Laminate your insurance n registration card too. Just in case you get wet. Monkey butt powder too. Lol.Ended up with a good 2011 Suzuki DL650 with 3700 miles.Has a bunch of extras that came with it.Set of Givi luggage,a/m windshield, heated grips, crash bars (no doubt those will come in handy),garmin gps,and 1" lowering links. My short legs are happy about them.Still needs a skid plate. The oil filter and cooler is exposed on the front bottom of the engine.Looks like a great place for an issue.
Been talking some loops around the area on my own.Getting to know the bike and my abilities.Which at this point are ok,but l just need seat time to work it all out.Went with a few guys on Labor Day on a "short ride" which lasted about 6 hours (5 hrs ride time) up into Whitetop,Virginia. The "land of a 1000 turns" along with going up and down mountains.Hornedogg knows where we went.Great ride and beautiful scenery. We didn't spend much time on any 4 lane road or interstate.Best way to see the area.
Long boring story, but gonna sell the Vstrom. My mrs. hasn't been happy about it since the day l brought it home. The whole ask for permission/beg for forgiveness didn't work this time.Ended up with a good 2011 Suzuki DL650 with 3700 miles.Has a bunch of extras that came with it.Set of Givi luggage,a/m windshield, heated grips, crash bars (no doubt those will come in handy),garmin gps,and 1" lowering links. My short legs are happy about them.Still needs a skid plate. The oil filter and cooler is exposed on the front bottom of the engine.Looks like a great place for an issue.
