It all depends on how cold the water & air are.
However, you cannot wear a drysuit without at least some layers of clothing because the drysuit doesn't keep you warm - it just keeps you dry. The clothes keep you warm.
Start out with sweat pants and a long sleeved shirt and see how it works. If it's too cold you can add more layers.
In my experience, if it's cold enough to wear a drysuit to begin with then shorts are also too cold underneath.

I've always worn my wetsuit under my drysuit. I always seem to get water seeping past the cuffs. Besides, I refuse to own sweat pants.

Charlie I should be able to give you a review after the first.
I just picked up a Oneill boost drysuit and I am stoked Waiting for usps.

^^^ Thats the same one I have, I tend to get a few runs of water down my back here and there. But you will be happy with it, mines on its second season. (just be sure to actually zip it up before you ride ..LOL..I found that out quickly!)

I wear sweat pans and a long sleeve t shirt under mine. Very warm with air temps in the 40's.......would be fine colder than that, but I don't ride much be low 40 degrees.

The best setup for under a drysuit, is obviously a purpose made thermal clothes. DUI makes a very nice set but its pricey as hell. The next best I found was one of those "wicking" under armor long sleeve shirts and a winter track pants. They will not get the "sweat weight" that sweat pants and shirt will. Much more comfortable.

My 6.5mm Body Glove kept me warm but......

I stayed pretty warm but the thickness of it decreased mobility & was too constricting causing fatigue to come on pretty quickly & made riding slot more challenging & really kicked my but yesterday. Was talking to ane of the Vets out there and he made so much sense. I was having a hell of a time out there & the mental pressure added in with the mechanical issues of my ski & the backup ski.made it pretty rough yesterday. I was really hard on myself over my preformance & he made me feel a whole lot better & even he was not up to par because of his wetsuit was causing him the same issues. I will say that if I continue to run with this wetsuit in training & force my body to perfom it could be better overall....def not racing in it but just might continue using it to train. Gonna be going with all new JetPilot Gear this season = )
