B.o.b or eme q8

Looking at building a flat water boat and they will end up costing about the same due to importing cost ...... Has any one put a 701 in a q8 and how did it go ???? I can only find q8 with big motors or kawi motors anyone fliping with a 701 ?

My goal is to flip with a limited motor ( pipe heap porting ) of boat wake....

How are they the same? I imagine the q8 hull brand new is around 7k and the bob is $3500 theres no way they can be the same after importing. Im not even sure the q8 can run a 701. I think its setup for a kawi powerplant. The bob is nice, obviously it can flip with a 701 but it takes a lot of skill. I say get a bob and a bigger motor, rather than the q8 and a 701

The q8 can be setup for a Polaris, Kawi, or Yamaha powerplant. Costs aside, I believe what Australian friend wants to know is which is a better BF hull for a limited 701 setup.

well, it depends on his budget. Here in the US the bob cant even be in the same catagory as the q8 due to the price. I dont know what eme claims with their hull but they seem like similar purpose hulls.

EME = $7k Oz landed
BOB = ($3500 US + $700 US ship (conservative) + $700 Oz import costs) = $5458 Oz landed

I think both of these hulls are in the same league to be honest. Personally, I'd be going with the BOB purely for the price as I would never want to run any other engine apart from a Yamaha.

just a little heads up...you will pay more than 3500 for your BOB after tax, turf, strap, other gel color...etc. Never seen a q8 flat water backflip a 701 before though....just sayin :cool2:

I've just built a Q8 with a Yam engine so yes it will work. Hard work though we had to use a small tank, no waterbox a special battery and make a set of engine bed plates. The end result will definately flat water flip though.

ok the q8 is $7000 landed
the bob works out to be $6000 landed

so there is only $1000 in it
i only want to run a kart tank in it. i know 701 fit and wire has one that he has fliped but has anyone else got a 701 in theres that has fliped it and i have seen some threads on here about q8 with some not so good comments about build quality,,,, fell free to pm me if you dont want to publicly reply

thanks kieran

Why are these hulls so expensive? I can only find about $500 and two days labor in a gell coat BOB. A 100% carbon hull being around $2500 with gell coat finish.

chris how much work has that motor got and what do you mean about making a bed plate i thought if you ordered the yamaha model it would just bolt right up ?

skunk you know i like being different thats why i got the fixed steer sj

Since when is product pricing made up of only labor and materials?
Is that how you think cars should be priced? Or consumer electronics?

I like my Q8 a lot. Its a ridiculous amount of fun to ride. Go to www.ericmalone.com and there is a video of him flipping a stock kawi setup. It should def be easier with a stock yam.

Eric wants to see his customers enjoy his product so he will work with you on everything from setup to riding. His knowledge alone has a dollar value to me.

What about product development and tooling? What do you think that cost would be?

When you shop for pistons, would you rationalize that they are too expensive? After all, there's only about $1 worth of aluminum in them.
