After a lengthy search for another Yamaha hull, I finally found the perfect candidate. Thanks to @VXSXH20 for telling me about this hull posted on Facebook. I don't know the story behind this ski but if anyone does, i'd love to hear the details! I planned out and made a quick surf trip and luckily @CarterB was coming out to ride and agreed to bring the hull to Jax to meet me. I ended up driving just a pinch over 900 miles but with fuel cost at a low, My investment was minimal.
My plans were to find another Yamaha hull and build a surf ski that would replicate the $5000+ AM hulls. I understand that this will never be the same as those hulls, nonetheless I am confident it will make an excellent performing ski for my abilities and goals. I am also a big fan of fixing things that others deem to be "junk". As i'm sure most of you know, Yamaha only produced the FX-1 for 2 years and in very limited quantities. These were hand laid fiberglass in Japan and featured a unique design. That being said I am more than happy to save this hull from its final resting place. There is much work ahead of me, but all I can see is potential. The drive to be unique and to go a step beyond are deep traits in my personality, this hull is a new challenge and an exciting one at that. This is going to take a lot of time and serious planning, I am interested in taking many measurements and to get input from other riders. I plan on using an @tom21 - 144 pump conversion and my existing Skat Mag from my SN.
