Back From the Dead - Yamaha FX-2

Yeeea Buddy! she's already looking good and a nice base to start with. I'd Suggest lowering the exhaust tube and going widetray since its cut open. The side repair will not be too hard. The FX hull can be improved upon in many subtle ways. Put a few layers of glass inside under the pole bracket area. Since you have to fix the hood channel anyhow. You can build up a lip in the front corners to hold it centered. Also, you may consider beefing up the hood channel underneath. I have pics of most all this stuff id be more than happy to dig up and share. I have tom21 sponsons on my fx1 and it rides so much nicer. Lookup @SpecialFx,@Flash-FX @wavehog build. You got Sano and Hornedogg in your backyard, I'm very excited to see this come back to life! Good Luck and Congrats Buddy!
I'd really like to see some pictures of this stuff. Currently researching for a similar build for my fx-1. Thanks

Im sure VXSXH20 will post up some helpful pictures. But looking through threads from page 1 will help give you an understanding of the process and different options you have during a build! Plus, when you post your own thread, we will all likely see it and be more than willing to give you helpful advice

Looking very nice! I'm not sure if I overlooked it or not, but what footholds are those?

These are actually RRP footholds, they came from Hot Products through Paul Lehr. I bought them probably 3 years ago and never used them haha I am actually not putting footholds in this ski. I wanted a wide tray and figured this would be the best way to do it since I already had the buckets. This ski will get a front foot hold (toe hold) and strap for the rear. My brother will be riding this hull and does not need footholds.

P.S. I regret not lowering the exhaust tube, I would have just made the wide tray full custom if I had. Not sure why I didn't do that haha

Is there something else that goes in there to grab you foot

Yes I will be running a toe hold (front foot hold) The one on my Superjet is just 2 pieces of 1" underpadding glued together, then turfed and glued to the dash. It hasn't moved at all in 3 years! I might also just make a bolt in piece for this.. I have enough extra glass to do it.

Apologies in advance Brapps for crashing the party. But I will attach some pics of my tray
For those who were wondering, I cut 2” off the rear gunnels of my rearmost tray Sides. Then cut the side wall and channeled the foam foot well all the way up to the bulk head. The pancake Pete foothold fit like a glove up there to give me basically 180* degree foothold. So much room for activities!! Lol

I lowered my exhaust tube down for a wider tray. I also took a piece of azek engineered wood ( plastic trex decking ) and cut it to shape to use as a additional bulkhead brace to support the tray bottom from impact and cracking. IMG_9801.jpg

Most likely he used the Superjet Mounting Brackets, then installed the foothold over it. This is what happens when you install a front foothold in a SJ as well....

Yeah, my e-box bolts are not accessible on my SJ. But they really have no reason to be removed.. I put thread sealant on them and made em' tight.
Im just going to leave the bolts exposed on this FX-1, they will punch through the turf on the dash with a countersunk screw & finish washer

i am running the cold fusion ebox bracket. If I really needed to remove it. I can pull the turf on the hold and drill a hole in the foot hold

- I originally wanted to put a hinge and cut a door in the top of the foot hold so i could store a tow rope. ive seen a few guys cut a large hole and slice a slit into the turf and store things inside.

Just curious, I’ve never ridden wit footholds. I like you setup. But do you feet ever get caught in those when you wipeout? I’d be worried about breaking an ankle if my foot got stuck…
