Back To Riding Again....

Went to the Neurosurgeon on Friday and the doc said I'm clear to ride again BUT no more jumping, ever... I will see how things go w/ the no impact riding style for 6 months or until I have any issues. My L-5 is slowly moving forward due to the loss of disc height and if it keeps going I could end up in serious chronic pain... (thats what he claims anyway) I think he is being straight up w/ me about it.

To me it's just not worth risking being in that kind of pain for prolonged amount of time. This whole issue has seemed like a lifetime and has been very difficult to stomach. The fact that I will never be able to do the things I once did is pretty painful and quite sobering... Jet Ski freeride has been my entire life for a solid 7 years and it has been one of the most enjoyable things I have ever been a part of.

I still plan on doing the Daytona Freeride as long as there is interest and support...

I'm not looking for sympathy or anything... just trying to explain my status so people know what to expect from me in the future... Thanks

I also want to thank XMetal for their support this year... They are great people w/ great products that really care about this sport!!!!

Glad to hear you'll be back on the water bro. Maybe you can concentrate on surf style and leave the big air tricks to the youngsters. At least this way you can continue riding with less impact on your back.

Wow, good news and bad, but at least you can get out on the water. Keep up those PT exercises, they may get you farther than you think (or he thinks).

I really hate to hear this Nick. I find it hard to imagine you riding without going big---it just doesn't seem right.

Did the Doc say that the damage was done because of your riding or was it a situation that you already had problems and the riding amplified the problem?

Dude, that sucks. Now I really feel bad about making you ride in that small sheeot that day. I need to post some of the video I got of you rolling. Of course, some of it was AFTER we had to drag your ski back in the water for you. :slap: :twak:

Glad to have you back Nick. There is no shame in being a kickass wave rider - I know you will tear it up no matter what!

PS: S.O.D. Rulez!!! :headbang::headbang::headbang:

was surgery not an option??

surgery was not an option... he said that there isn't much you can do about it.

I have degenerated disc disease and my discs will just continue to flatten under continuous loads like that... I may stat riding and start feel way better, who knows???... I just have to prepare myself for the inevitable....

See ya on the water this weekend Nick. Keep your head up and know that just getting to ride is a privilege for now. Over time as you feel it out and become a surfstyle powerhouse,im sure youll find your strength again.
Ive been in a very sim place coming out of motox. There are alot of low impact tricks especially on the b1 and a few on the Sj to keep you lovin life untill you heal up.

Looks like there will be a new tube rider in FL.....

Agreed any riding is better than no riding.

Build back your strength. Keep you spirits high and if you do everything right you never know. People heal from serious ailments all the time. You're the only person who can help you at this point.
