Well its time. I got my chan and its pretty dang sweet. I want to start this build thread to show people more in detail this hull and also get some feed back and tips on assembly and riding.
This hull being the ONLY hull I have ever seen in person there where some surprises. The order process is a little sketchy to say the least. But some how Steve got it done. He is a super busy guy and I ordered a hull at the worst time. I called him and ski clinic and after several failed attempts at both I was getting no answer I was getting a little discouraged. Being a long way away from any ski shop customer service over the phone/computer is key. So my thoughts were if I cant even get a hold of someone to buy a hull what if i get one and I have a problem and need help. Am i going to be s.o.l. But eventually steve called me back after ski clinic got in touch with me and said they were to busy to take an order till the 15th of oct after finals. Steve said two weeks I can have a hull ready to ship. This was at the end of august.
Steve also called me back I think a couple days later not even listening to his messages, just from seeing a missed call. This impressed me. I own a tint shop and get calls all day long some times I miss one. If they dont leave a message its most likely a sales call that will just waste my time. But steve being the hard worker he is and not wanting t let a potential job slip away he called my number and sold a hull. I have one complaint. He needs a woman to get the paper side stuff done (not that they are only good for paper stuff they just seem to be better than men at paper work) I hate paper work. my hull supposedly sat for two weeks before it shipped and i never got a tracking number. that caused stress. I run a full time business and help run a farm. So knowing when a delivery truck is going to show is nice. Of course I was tinting a pos 94 camery in another city for a stereo shop I do work for when the truck driver called. So i had to drop my heat gun and leave a job to unload the truck. Im sure he was annoyed by me texting everyday asking for tracking info and half the time not getting a reply. I was starting to wonder if i gave a few $$$$ dollars to some random dude on the internet was such a good ideal lol. Again this was all before world finals. The worst time to buy jet ski parts so I understand. He got it handled and some how fit me in.
This hull in beautiful that being said its hand made and not perfect. only about 99% symmetrical. Cosmetic things. The nose is a tiny bit off when you look down from a standing position. The latch indent is not perfect and the tail of the tray has varying thickness where its cut. Again I only read how clean and nice these skis are compared to the other after market stuff so i just tell my self ok thats how it is deal with it lol. Dont compare your custom hull to a mass produced super jet. Plus mine is the base model glass hull on the cheap so I get what I pay for. I would love to see a diy bob in person.
This thing is light. I have it with foam and that is the heavy end for sure. center of balance is prob between the hood opening and the front of the foot hold. I can lift this thing easy. It reminds me of a wet stunt kayak. parts are thin where they dont need strength and parts are thick where they do. I was hasty and didnt weigh it but no hood i would say its in the low 80s and the hood is under ten? I lifted my newly gutted (and for sale rn hull) off the stand and it was not light. I will weigh it. I think its like near 150 with no hood and stock hoods are heavy.
I wanted to take pics of everything. Not just the usual chan glam shots.
pump tunnel is huge. and the hull indents just before the intake. I'm assuming for better jet ski freestyle enjoyment.
I am super anal when it comes to things being straight. So mounting the pole was hard especially when the hull in not perfect. Mounting a stock rn bracket with studs would me a nightmare. Most of all this hull is brand new. I makes my shop smell like resin. You dont want to go hacking it up with drill bits. Some pro should make a how to. on pole mounting. experience from my rn i mounted my bracket taking measurements form points on the hull. this worked but by the time you stuck a pole on it and rode it the pivot on the steering was not cetered over the hood latch perfectly. I had to adjust this a few times. I never separated the pol from the bracket during the swap over. Im a master eye baller. Also mount mark and drill with the hood on.
Now that the pump sticks out of the back like a bad ass aftermarket short hull i need to clean up the raider nozzle.
pump alignment was less that fun. First off the inserts are not oem super jet. I think they are the same as js hull kawi. I think if I were to eye ball it. they are m10 by 1.5. I think super jets are fine thread m10 1.25. correct me if im wrong. I had some oe JS pump bolts (I think) that fit. It took a stack of washers on the back and none on the front to get it close. My rn i had the shaft hitting the hull when i took the mid shaft off (woops) haha. Oh and either remove your alignment pins our drill holes in the hull for the pump and the mid shaft. I drilled holes and that was a pain. If you are not perfect you throw everyting off.
I dont like this. Maybe make a valley in the hood to clear the pivot bolt? To avoid a fat stack of foam.

ok the main reason i made this thread.. How the flip to you mount the ebox. Its tight. and the wall is curved. do I just bolt it? if I do the bolts on the out side wont sit flush do to the curve of the tray. and its thin there. Im scared bolts would crack it or want to pull through.
And the stock water box is tight. I will make my own this winter. Custom Chan box lol.
