If any one has a close up of a turfed Chan foot hold that would be sweet to see how it's seamed

i wear shoes when I ski. so i have 8mm on the bottom and a strip of 25mm contoured all nice on top. It bites at my ankles but doesnt jam my toes.

zzylstra HOW THE FLIP DID YOU TURF THAT SO CLEAN! and how did you seem the foot holds so good. I have never seen a turfing for the advanced turfer video. steve or zzylstra needs to make one haha.

what do your skis look like turfed under the bond rail. Wrap the turf or cut it flush?

Ride day finally came! holy crap I was nervous. Like full gate motocross start nervous. Never setting eyes on an after market hull till I opened up the crate, i was taking a big gamble.

First 3 min of riding i was like holy crap this is weird. Much harder to ride than i had thought. and my first thought was if this is the most stable hull on the market as backflip short hulls go, I bet others have to be way squirly.

Then I was cruising around noticing this is way nose high. Quickly was like ahhh this is why it is called the backie chan. It wants to flip. I immediately had back flip confidence. I noticed you just lean forward not like a super jet and the nose comes down and it planes out fine. I think with a long plate, long pole, and weight in the front this ski would hold a carve really well. But I have also not ridden that much and with some practice i might be able to carve like a super jet/js550 ect.

I was plateaued with my sj. Immediately I had more free style skill. 180s way easier, back flips rotated twice as far as my sj attempts, power slides easy (couldnt even do them on my sj), landed one 270 and rode it out. back flips i just need practice and i will get them with time.

Ski rides totally different than any other stock ski. I cant nose stab it. Idk if i could even do a sub. Tried 2 barrel rolls and it just didnt work. I was going about it all wrong just need time in the tray. But again i put 2.5 gal through it and i was wearing two wet suits neo gloves and a neo jacket. That alone sucked my energy a ton. plus 40 degree water.

problems i need to address

stock intake hits the hood and rubs

rachet strap hood is kinda cool but mostly gay. every flop i had to hit the hood back to center. Maybe some turf on the top would help the straps grip?

cart tank..... a gas guage would be totally awesome. way to trick for a stand up jetski. But I like how light it is. dont even notice the weight when full. a full 5 gallons in a super jet is HEAVY.

riser bars are for skis with normal gunnels (what ever they are called) It was super hard to climb on. My superjet I could tip it and put a foot in the tray and pull myself up. But the chan is so short this trick will be harder to master. But I do know climbing onto it reminded me of mounting an x2.

Or a hood latch on the back. My hood has never once budged.

Congrats on what sounds like a good first ride.

Looking good for your first ride on a chan. Keep up the good work! Looks like you will be flipping in no time.
