Let me see if I got this right-
ps-I'm on a SXR that weighs 3,831.3 lbs, not an sj
and I got nose stabs down to a science and real comfortable doin em

Go straight at boat wake-w/SXR I have to roll in first wake to get attitude of ski correct and then nail it off of 2nd wake.

As I go up wake crank bars all the way left and keep full throttle-at the same time I am up over pole to the left side w/my chin over pissers on left front.

As ski launches off of wake-throw my head left, down and around while keeping knees bent as much as possible.

Is this pretty muck it in a nut shell?

can you flatwater roll Nick?

I have attempted it a few times... I can get most of the way around, but it's far from what I would consider a flatwater roll... I need a 1 ft wave or bigger.... The 6" wake a sj creates is just not enough for my horrible technique

I just can't get interested in doing flatwater tricks like the Barrel Roll, or backflip... It's so un-natural to me.. Everything seems so forced and you have to practice everything to the point where it just wouldn't be fun for me anymore... I like to ride for the thrill and adrenaline rush of it.... Waves just make all the difference...

One of THE BIGGEST things that helps with rolls is getting the pole DOWN!
Every year I seem to forget this, and when I remember it again, it changes EVERYTHING!
Once you leave the wake, make the pole hit the stop on the hood, then LEAVE IT THERE! :)

By putting the pole on the hood, you force your body to get closer to the hull which greatly increases your rotational speed. It's the same thing as when an ice skater pulls her arms in during a spin.

PS
I'll keep complaining to Kawasaki about the weight, but I have a feeling we won't do anything about it. grrrrrrr

CAN YOU JERRY ???? :cool2:

hahah I knew I should have qualified that a little better. I wasn't trying to make a point and say "can YOUUUUU roll??? Why are you giving advice when you can't do it." I was actually just curious if he was flat water rolling. No sht talking intended at all. :)

Nick, I'm with you...I want to learn to flat water roll, just to say I can do it. But I don't have much interest.

I've been working on my flat water rolls for a few weeks now... and I think one of the most important things to remember, at least for me, is to keep your rotation going. I have a habbit of stopping my rotation at the half way point... I stop leading with my head to look down, or up I guess, at the water under me... and I wind up doing an inverted sub. for some reason I am having a hard time correcting that problem. :banghead: Any suggestions?

On another note, I got about 1/2 way around on my first attempt at a flat water back flip... I was stoked... then I pancaked it...

Sorry to threadjack... good luck Gil.... nail it bro!!!

I tried all that set up wake bs for 5 months trying to nose stab-got close-but no cigar. SJBRIT comes up to me at Lanier and says" flat water-little hop to the right-hard hop to the left and lean over left frt" it was just that simple-now stabbin like a beyotch. I really hope its almost that simple to roll-I have made a few half azz attemps w/very little commitment. I think Stoyer said it best-nut up and go 4 it!!! Only prob is I gots 2 get my nuts outta wifes purse w/o gettin caught!LOL:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

i made 3 VALIANT attempts at some rolls this weekend......Nick was up, just not on the water yet...

all 3 FELT good, and was told got 270+ degrees of rotation.....these were all off maybe a 3 foot wave in about 6 feet of water..

3rd attempt my ankle got hung up in the hold....:crutches:

I do have to say all my flatwater practice has improved my Surf skills ! Flatwater is hard and technical but really worth the effort when you land something cool. I have been really working at both.... and not getting board with either. I did some backys off boatwakes yesterday and not off a double up either. It was freakin killer. 2 surf days then a flat day. All about having fun and what you like to get out of the sport. :cheer:

I got a Bell Rhythm Pro helmet that is actaully real comfortable that I wear w/trying rolls.
You guys can't begin to imagine how stoked I am since Lanier!
I sucked at motocross for the last several years and was embarrassed to be out there it got sooooo bad trying to keep up w/14 year olds.
Now this-and I -think- I can hang. I want to be in the line up w/
Pancake Pete, Stoyer, Ratti, Pardaddy, and so on at Lanier next spring. It's probaly just a pipe dream, but I'm going to try REAL hard.
Thank all u guys for the inspiration and hope!!!!!!!!!!
