Is there anybody here with some welding skills that might wanna donate a better ramp for the beach?
I'd kick in $20 by paypal if someone started a fund for that.

Im planning on coming to Daytona. I can make a ramp out of scrap and bring it.. If I have enough scrap. give me some dimensions. I will see what I have. Im sure I can strap it under my ski trailer to haul it.

That would be huge.
Let's see if someone can get the dimensions from the one that is there. Somebody in the area should be able to do that and take some pics.
I'm SURE guys would kick in a little $$$ to make that happen. Like I said, I'll be first in with $20 to start.
I think something longer, with less angle, and some better way for it to meet up with the seawall is what it needs.

Anybody else got any input on this?

I think the one that's been used in the past is just a ramp for a flatbed trailer, so it's probably only 5'-6' long.

something 8'-10' long with a 6" lip to hang on the seawall would work great I think.

I agree.
I'm gonna talk to jetmaniac this week, and I know he rides up that way, so I'll see if he can check if that ramp is still there and if so if he can snap some pics.

Yea, find out the thickness of the concrete wall so a lip can be fabbed up on the end of the ramp.

The only thing that might need to be bought is expanded metal. I dont have any of that.

the wall itself may be cinder blocks, but the cap does not appear to be...what does it matter anyway what it's made of? the only thing that really needs to be known is the width of the cap and the approximate height of the wall from the beach below.

here's a decent shot of the cap:

and of the wall and current ramp:

Those pics are perfect.
The ramp, if possible, could be a little wider. If not, its fine, but wider would allow two people to walk up the ramp one on each side of a Blaster or X2 without it being a balancing act.

Just my guess, but I think 10' long would be perfect, with maybe 2' long flat ends for going over the top of the seawall.

The seawall is poured concrete, not cinder block. My seawall in my backyard looks exactly the same, as does the top cap.
I'll measure the top cap right now.

Maybe the width of the current ramp also, just for grins. Not sure if needed but would a rail on one side be in the way??
I don't think it needs a rail, BUT whoever makes it make SURE it's wide enough for beach cart wheels to fit on side-to-side, not ski-width, but cart-width.

Yes I figured cart width and one person as the total width.
I think penguin is drawing something up.

After thinking about the ramp... It can be made two ways.

Made from scrap and will look thrown together, will work, a nd will need partial donation money for material

Made from new material and will look good and last for many years, but will need full donation money for material.

Seats, let me know what you wanna do.

I forgot steel is sold in 20' lengths, so the same size should be used at top and bottom.

quick sketch:

Nice.
I personally like the idea of a 10' ramp, just because it reduces the angle. The lesser the angle, the more likely one guy can pull up his ski on a beach cart by himself without having to find 1-2 guys to help.
Going down in the morning should be easier, too. I figure a guy could get at least his stand up down a 10' ramp by himself, maybe even a Blaster.
