Freestyle Best Freestyle Hull?

Tem Berky makes his hulls for both Surf and Flat water riders and his quality is top notch...!!! However most of his hulls seem to ride quite well in both surf and flat waters.... You should ask riders who have ridden the Super Freak in both conditions as I only ride flat water.....

I would say from what I have read the Superfreak is aimed to be more of a surf hull than freestyle with the tail and entry rocker on it.

I agree that the stock length Matrix is not a perfect freestyle machine due to the front rocker wanting to always keep the nose above water but the -2" and -4" hulls may very well offset that. I will say that it is a very fun freeride and surf ski though which is what it was designed for.

I don't understand the comments about chine walk, based on what? a 2 second wobble? Not one person that has ridden my ski has ever mentioned this at all nor have I ever noticed any myself. The Matrix is scary fast though and way more stable than any of my SJ's ever were. Due to Chine walk I took a nasty high speed fall off my 07 SJ last year and tore my shoulder out bad enough that i had to stop riding for 3 months, (sometimes you really do need to let go,lol). Nearly a ful year later and my shoulder still hurts so needless to say i am quite timid now with high speed runs but the Matrix is quickly changing my mind...I hit the throttle way harder now than I ever did before.

I own a Superfreak and can tell you Its a Fun ski for me Thats what I wanted
Does it do everything I have no idea I ride a SJ in the surf
Do I get tossed chasing cruisers Hell yes
If your not crashing your not riding hard enough

I like reading threads on AM hulls I never rode a SF before I got mine but then again I never rode a RN before I got mine

I just cant believe the posts from people talking about skis that they never beeen on
Thats called gossip
Next I will be reading about Jowblows wet suit didnt match his shoes
Its just as usefull in the end
Thats what makes these threads useless

There is no such thing as one ski that is perfect for both surf and flat water freestyle. I think you need 2 ski's to be genuinely happy. I've ridden a fair few aftermarket hulls, including the Rickter, Matrix and XFT and I'm now building up a stock hull 98 Superjet for the surf. This ski is what I started on, and the more aftermarket hulls I ride, the more I think I'm losing track of why I've loved this sport for so long.

Remember when you were more concerned about having a reliable ski and how good the surf was rather than how good your stuff looked and how much money you have tied up in it? Ahhh, good times!

Hey Norm...I'm excited to see what his new hull is like. From what I can see/have been told, it should be the ultimate surf boat!

What's all this crap about the Matrix chine walking? MINE DOESN'T. Rides great. It is MUCH more stable and forgiving than a stock hull. I think you guys are reading way too much into the several owner's selling their skis. Do I believe that 100% were for "personal" reasons? No. Were most? absolutely. Look at the list. Pete: new kid and hours cut back at work. Lustic: never ever planned on keeping it longer than to ride at World Finals. "dude with two blue ones": back troubles. I think a few of the people just expected something different or thought they were buying the magic ticket for x or y trick. It happens with ALL the aftermarket hulls. How many people that sold their Matrix immediately went out and bought some other aftermarket hull? NONE that I have seen.

The question to ask any owner of any ski is: If you could hit the reset button and start over today, would you buy the same hull? I would. I'm not saying that there aren't several other great hulls out there, but it works for me and what I do. Quit trying to make drama where there isn't any.

what it boils down to in regards to which hull is going to be best suited for you, is going to be contingent apon how much you weigh, how much particular "selected" hull weighs, how specific hull will perform with how much power, overall handling characteristics. there are a lot of variables, and what may be suitable to someone else, may not be suited to you personally in regards to how much you have to spend on a hull, how much you have to spend on a powerplant to get it to perform, etc...

Mine has never chine walked if anything my 09SJ which was the doner ski for my Matrix was terrible for getting the wobbles when on really flat water. It really depends on what you want to do with it. I've ridden A Rickter which is quite similar to the Matrix I found, and also a Q8 which is just a back flipping machine and still ok for the surf but a bit more of a hand full. I've given probably 20plus people a ride of my Matrix and they always come back saying how stable it is and easy to ride. I know I defiantly wont be following the trend and selling my ski anytime soon.
Here are a couple of vids of me riding in both flat water and surf. The flat water video was the 1st time ever riding my Matrix and the 1st time ever trying a flat water barrel so go easy on me. lol

I believe this Thread is for Freestyle hulls ONLY!!

I think it would be better for ONLY the RIDERS who actually own or have ridden the hulls (several times) to give their comments on the subject!!!

We don't want to read pointless advises from riders with opinions and no facts.....

If you own or ridden any of the after market hulls please do share your thoughts, advantages and disadvantages!!!

The BUN hull is good, I rode a few of them with different power plants ..... HOWEVER .... The BUN hull is still just another shortened & lightened Yamaha SJ design....

Here is Lenzi doing 6 backflips on his Lenzi1one hull!!!!!

You can clearly see that Lenzi hit the same height every time from the 1st Backy to his 6th Backy.......
