SXR Best ride plate/intake grate for carving

I rode my friends SXR with a Skat Track prop and intake and it hooks up considerably better than my stock SXR.

Whats the best intake/ ride plate for carving like crazy. This SXR doesn't need to leave the water.... I have my superjet for that. I just want really good hookup for carving/rec riding. I have and will be keeping mostly a stock ski, I have also heard the stock prop is really good and usually not worth changing. Is that true?

Whats you opinion on the R&D aquavein stealth? (http://www.amazon.com/Racing-AQUAVEIN-800-STEALTH-111-80001/dp/B000UKBKAO) I can get one for fairly cheap local. I have also heard alot about TBM super scoop intake and ride plate (http://www.performancecatalog.com/product-p/tbm118.htm) as being #1

Or is it even worth replacing ride plate? Just intake grate?

I have always heard from several guys on here claiming that the stock ride plate on SXR is dang good and is pointless to get an aftermarket one... same for stock intake grate too from some people. I don't know about the prop yet.

For a stock boat, I like a skat cut back scoop grate, tbm ride plate and rear side sponsons. Can go into a turn full speed and it rails.
R&D is a good grate for limited or open. It brakes hard when letting off throttle. I used it for a while on my limited with a Macc plate.
Shredmaster plate is fun for rec riding and ripping turns but can get sketchy in chop,

I prefer the TBM plate and grate. Scorn as a combo that works for him as well. The skat grate works well also. Not much difference between the skat and TBM.

How do those side sponsons mount? I have been looking for an install manual online...

They mount inside the bond rail. you run screws through the rail. Think one or two line up, you have to drill one or two additional holes. Been 6 years since I installed mine and dont have my SXR any more.

The point is to have water between the sponson and hull. Rear end stays planted better in corners, not as likely to slide. I have them on a 750SX and love them.

I just put the skat stainless scoop grate on mine and D cut the stock plate. I was expecting it to be a little bit more loose in the rear with the plate D cut but it was not. I actually stuck better. Although, it could have been because of the scoop grate. The D cut did make it better for jumping.

She rips much better now (note leg dragging avatar). I didn't realize how bad the oem grate is.

At first I didnt like the ride plate, it shoved the nose way down. But after riding it for awhile I love it and dislike my friends ski who doesent have it. It allows you to take some FAST turns.

Debating to get the rear sponsons, I might just keep it as is for a little while.

The rear sponsons will spoil you. I took my wife's TBM sponsons off and she hated not having them on.

I didn't like the feeling either.

The new ones come with four holes and they bolt right up to where you currently have holes for rivets.

Are you saying they are good or bad?
