Bilge pump placement - theory

An o-ring as mentioned or I used to dab some 3M 5200 on the tabs to keep it in---it's easy to remove if you need to take it out later.

Does anybody have a problem keeping the damn bilge pumps from ejecting from the blue bases?
Not breaking off the tabs just simply coming off from surf abuse.

My first bilge blew up for sucking something up too big, then my second one just fell out in Oregon and my driveline got it pretty well while taking one of the bracket loops on the side off.
I feel like i buy bilge pumps more than i buy oil or spark plugs. so right now im not running them and I am very vulnerable in the surf with just my scupper... oh wait it did sink:icon16:

i modified my bracket to use zipties instead of the thin clips and i also glued it in with some silicone. its epoxied 25% of the slots are blocked but its not going nowhere. i laid one layer of glass under the coupler area and while it was still green got the bracket stuck.. solid!

Yes, but dont use a normal T fitting. Use a Y fitting so the water exits better and has a more normal tendency to flow to the outlet. Some will probably make its way back to the other bilge, but the majority will flow out.

i just yanked my motor today to put a set of couplers, and a tbm lightweight flywheel and found that my bilge i had 5200'ed next to the coupler had pulled right off the hull... needless to say my drive couplers chewed the pump to bits... hopefully with the new smaller couplers i can fit the bilge back there easier without any tight fitting.

This will not cavitate. Rulemate 1100 gph. (750 if you want to use stock bilge fitting) It has a Floating ping-pong-ball switch. Throw your crappy handlebars switches away for good! The only time it has failed me is when my battery was dead. Plus it pumps like a mofo! :usa2:

ps...this does not pump every couple seconds. It is always on when needed and always off when not.

there's no space to mount these near the coupler in a RN... i think the only place they fit is between tank and flywheel cover

if scupper is not an option, move one of your pumps in front of the flywheel cover...it will be out of the "super blender foamy chop" and should pump out enough to lower the water level to the point where the other pump can work (or at least work better!!)

i only run one rule 500 by the coupler and still have stock bilge. no scupper

i just put one pump by the firewall way to the left... and another under the coupler cover, and i still run the stocker...

i drilled another line through the hull for my dual cooling line...

even if both my bilges die, like they did sunday, at least i still have the stocker to suck some of the water out.

That is exactly why I leave the stock bolge pump in my skis. I had one of the handle bar switches crap out on me and cause bilge pump issues before.

V500. I took the loop out of the line to see if it still does it.. Will know tonight or Wednesday night.

Yes I went to Wal Mart the other day to check out the Attwoods and the one I saw was hour glass shaped and wouldn't fit in my bracket. Do they have other models or do you mount them a different way?

They'll fit with the Blowsion bracket - you just have to redrill one of the three holes..or just use two. The new attwoods still fit under the cover beside the shaft like the old ones. Theres a post on here somewhere comparing the two. I haven't used mine yet having just got my bilge outlets I still have to drill the holes in the hull and connect the hoses. I'm going to be using the stock one and two 500 attwood tsunamis...

good reading, I want to replace mine before the next ocean ride and trying to figure out the best way to go, I currently have a 350? rule I think, I am not really worried about cost of the pump just want a good one that will do the job, I like the big white one thats automatic? wonder if it will fit in a square, I got tons of room near the back, I was thinking moving the old one up front and installing the new one in back... Is that one thats posted on this thread pretty good? Are any of these worth a ...

I run dual 500 rules both on the coupler side left/right never had any problems other than the pumps coming loose ( not anymore ) also tried one in front and one in the back but the front one went dry all the time..

Both pumps are one once I run the ski and stay on all the time, no problems so far

So I water tested today. Great improvement. Now the bilge "hooks" up instantly after subs and other underwater manouvers, just as I hoped it would!:biggrin:

I switched from dual Rules to the Attwoods with the outer cover cut off. Definitely a big difference between the ventilation of the rules and and the NON EXISTENT of that on the Attwoods. They works so much better!

Is there any reason why most use a rule 500? I believe the 1100 rule is the exact same size, so why not use that? Surely it would perform better then two 500s?
