300/440/550 Blaster 1 or X2

Well said....

I own a X2. My good buddy owns a Blaster. There's no ski out there I enjoy more than my X2. My buddy swears there's nothing better than the Blaster 1.

It goes like this. They are both fun to ride and they both come down to preferance.

The Blaster comes ready to ride for about $1500. The X2 comes needing many many upgrades for about $300 and can be on par with a blaster after total cost nears $1500 with modifications.

The only real noteworthy thing between the two is how much work they take. The Blaster 1 is upgraded easily with bolt on parts. The X2 takes a engineer with a degree in quantum physics to get anything upgraded. If you want to do as little work as possible, the blaster wins hands down, but if you enjoy bulding, modify, and customizing and having a ski so individual it's nothing like the next one built OEM the same way, then there's nothing wrong with the X2.

I'll swear by the X2 as the most enjoyable thing out there to ride, it just takes a lot of work and time to make them to something worth riding. I envy my blaster-ridin-buddy for always having something to ride w/o putting any effort to make it rideable, but I'd still take my X2 over his blaster anyday. And he wouldn't trade his blaster for my X2 even if it was ready to ride stock or had Yamaha parts.

The big Dawg paid a 100 bucks for his X2 and the things always runs.....and it rips...I like how it carves....However, I love the Blaster through and through....with the shortened seat it make it easily to mount...it is in the process of getting pimped...thank god the big dawg has a degree in quantum physics :haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:

The problem with conversion hoods is that there just isn't anyone making them readily available. I know you and Tom are working on it but I don't want to buy a hood for big bucks and then there be no available parts years later down the road.

You are right though, I don't want to spend the money either... SJ parts are expensive!

the one we're making will be fiberglass and x-metal parts. no need to worry about parts down the road.

people also have to remember the orignal X-2 was first put out in 1986 with the last one (of that era) built in 95 and for the most part didn't change. You superjet guys are running 1998 and above round noses BIG difference in technology. Now if you wish to compare skis compare the newer X-2 to the same year round noses . My point is it take some time and money to update the older X-2 to todays performance standerds. Besides how many out there can find and afford the new generation X-2s:shocked:

you're a little off there shane. the current superjet is based of off the 1990 superjet with very few changes. the bore is a little bigger (1994) and the case now has dual carbs (1996) and now the hull has built in sponsons (2008)

what brought this on anyway? the facts still remain:
x2's are cheaper and require a lot of work/parts to not be a turd on the water.

what brought this on wavedemon was the fact that there was a big difference in expectations of power and performance when the old generation X-2 was desingned ( kinda of like the difference between a Chevy truck built in 86 compared to one built in 96 ). Yes compared to todays standards it is a turd in stock form. back then it rode decent because people didnt have skis generating the kind of power and stability that we have come to expect now of days. Besides I don't see ANYONE still ridding and modifying a wavejammer imagine what it would take to bring one of those up to todays expectations.:scratchchin:
