BLASTER SURF MODS with 701ind

The Hood kit is a must. Anyone running a 701IND dual strut kit will tell you, they simply are one of the best hood mods you can do. As you can see the pic below, just the amount of difference they make in having a greater opening and that gives you more room to work on the motor. The ease in which the hood lifts, will have you wondering why you never did this mod earlier. Its super easy now to order your strut kit as 701 has a On-Line shop that does all the calulations in freight and all prices are in the Aus dollar, so it will be even cheaper. http://www.701industries.com/index.php/store#!/~/product/category=8399405&id=33728322

Placed an order through the shop last night, and worked great. If you order from Dave's online shop, make sure you pull up an online currency conversion rate to keep up with the cost through your shopping. The Currency exchange as of last night wasn't done until checkout. You might be able to add that extra item you needed and still fit in budget. Current rate as of last night was $0.89 to 1 AUD. Remember this conversion does fluctuate based on how the US Dollar is doing compared to the AUD.

Been running this system for years. I have not heard of any issues you have raised. The struts have been used in the automotive industry for decades and for sure, over a long time all things wear out eventually.

I got one of Daves 1st Prototype kits, Against my will I installed it. Was trying to reduce weight at the time. Now, can't imagine a ski without it. So far 2 years in and still going strong. The new struts are stronger than the ones I got. So a little more ease in lifting. I did once tow my ski out of the garage in reverse with the hood up. Heard a loud noise, stopped to see it caught on the dam roller door. Kit fine, roller door, not so good!

So I have talked about making the Transom all it can be, and how to make your hood more functional and lock down the cowl way more solid with the HD-Hinge and the importance of having a correct fitting seal.
One of the key things you should consider when turning your Blaster into a freeride ski is your overall stance. Bending over your bars might be what your used to because there has not been a steering system built purposely for free style. But now you have a option of upgrading your old school system to the best steering system around. The Quicksteer is built for freeride. Now QS has gone up another level with the QS-S. This is the tallest helm ever made and still features the fully adjustable speed settings, but has built in suspension. Its suspension is a wrist saver on those big flat lands, but just in general rough conditions, its working absorbing all the minor impacts and this ultimately slow down your fatigue level. Combine this QS-S which is around 3inchs taller than stock with a set of Mega Fat Bars ,and now your 5 inches higher than a stock set up.
Having this set higher will give you a much more straighter standing position, which gives you much more control over the ski. The best blaster riders around the World that run this set up will back my claims as stating this is the best you can buy.
Having a better stance is of major importance, and then to have the QS-S dialled in to your speed and with built in dampening, it doesn't get any better. Both the QS and the QS-S are set up to take the Mega fat bars 31.8mm dia. These bars not only look the best, but are of perfect width 740mm and they have a 75mm rise. That makes them the widest, fattest and tallest bars on the market. Cant get better than that. So perfect for freeride.

I installed my Hood kit and hinge the other night and can instantly see a big difference in how it locked down the hood on my Blaster. The hinge is a very nice piece and really tightens up the hood by itself, but with the hood strut kit, it really comes together nice to make the hood nice and tight. Lifting the hood is so much easier with the strut kit on, I can seriously use one finger to lift it up.

I was thinking about ordering a hinge for my ski. Mine is pretty much shot. Just installed my hood kit a couple weeks ago and it's definitely a nice addition to the ski. What did the hinge cost?

NEW COLOUR: I have just added a new colour to the range. Its called Lime Green. Im currently doing up a Blaster to show case the Surf Mods and it will be ready for the Queensland event ,the AJSP SURF SLAM in early May. This ski will be painted in a Gun Metal Grey/charcoal colour and will be getting the new colour to it. The Lime green against this colour really pops. After this ski I will be doing one with Hot Pink Bits. This colour has also just been added to the colour range in the ON-Line Shop. http://www.701industries.com/index.php/store

I have seen many versions of straps over the years and this is why I needed to bring out a Strap for the freeride Blaster. No other strap in the world has been designed with so many features and purposely manufactured for the Blaster. These straps have been tested by some of Aussies best and most brutal freeriders. There input has been taken on board and any issues they wanted changed has been done through R&D and now the Surf Straps are ready for the market. These straps are available in many colours.
