Here it is...Sheared off two studs holding the cyllinder to the cases. (How the hell did that happen?????) Must have happened all the same day because the nuts didn't get scuppered. Ran lean and took out a piston. F Me. I can't afford a new motor right now.

That sucks DJ! Right in the middle of summer too.... So, the studs broke which caused the air leak? That's scary - how the hell do you see that coming?

So the studs are broken off in front, but the rear cylinder has the piston damage. Are you sure it was lean on the rear?

I don't know...rear piston is pretty clean. Front one was dirtier, but in perfect shape. I think I am just going to re-ring it and put a new piston in the rear.

KMAC had that happen years ago at a race, we pulled the motor, pulled the cylinder and replaced the studs. Got to keep a check on those studs, if the cylinder gets loose it can and will crack the mounting flange off......... Bad News.

You got some serious vibration somewhere in driveline to cause that.
And BK what the hell are you doing? was it deto again?

That would it looks like. But, Top of piston is smooth, not pitted. 45 thousandth's clearance. 92 octane........ Got me stumped. Timing is right at stock. Thinking when my stater cracked a few weeks ago it may have already burned it some (Way advanced when it was moving around), and yesterday finished it off.

DJ I would run that piston all day. Your hone marks are still good.....

Re assemble with new gaskets and studs and run it.

Nevermind...I see a crack...

Nothing got passed the rings. The cyllinder is perfect. The rings are perfect. Going to re-ring both pistons, get one new piston and a gasket kit all from Wiseco. Ordering first thing in the morning. Should be back in the water in less than a week.

Florio has the studs in his garage somewhere....

I thought GroupK motors had a reputation as being over-reliable and under-performing.
