blowsion destroyer tubbies?

Haven't tried them on my ski yet, but have riddne SXRs and 08 and above SJs with them and I would add them before they even get wet. Handling improvements and makes the ski more stable.

My set for a sxr showed up today. Fit & finish is excellent. Can't wait to get them on.
Anyone looking for a set should call Kommander in AZ. He hooked me up.

Weigh them first and post the results, seems to me they felt heavy but I cant remember for sure.

Yeah, they are heavy........I can't remember, but I want to say close to 10 lbs.
Another nice thing about the destroyers is that they can also be easily removed and switched to my next boat when this hull gets wore out.

I ordered a set last week for my '00 sj. They should be in sometime this week. I am concerned about how they'll handle riding on the river. I ONLY ride on the river and generally cruise around to the calm areas and ride there. It seems that they can can effect the handling on calmer conditions. My reason for ordering them was because I am a tall and heavy rider at 6'5" ~230 lbs. I think they well help stabilize the ski.

Any thoughts?

Mine were 07-

msanders, they will make the ski carve better but if anything I think they make it less stable for straight line tracking in calm water. Give them a little time to get used to them. You can always unbolt them and sell them.

What is it about these sponsons that cause them to ride differently in calm water? I don't fully understand this. Exactly what do they cause the ski to do?

I did quite a bit of testing with the tubbie III on my boat in 08. And the "destroyers" for the 08+ boat is basically a "destroyer" version of the tubbie III design but it is molded to fit the 08+ better.

The "destroyer" tubby has the same profile as the original tubby or tubby III but the "destroyer" has three through bolds and special nuts for the inside that make installation much easier.

For me I don't think the benefit is so much being able to remove the sponsons (that would be a crime in my opinion :) but they are much easier to install now.

These are GREAT! I love them, definitely worth it. I heard they aren't good in calm water which made me nervous, but I did a jet ski trip over Memorial Day and lots of glass water riding as well as lots of riding behind other riders wakes and chop and they were great. absolutely NO chine walking, plowed through other riders chop better, they were great on WOT straights and carved hard. However I did chop my stock SJ pole 3" but I'm kinda tall (6' 2") which got my weight more forward, but I have all good things to say about them on my '99 Sj

i have a set of destroyers for my 2010 sj and it seems they fit the hull contour better if they are about 4" farther back than the 41 1/2 " called for in the installation instructions. If installed at 41 1/2 " would have to pull tips of sponsons in with bolts to match hull. Anybody else experience this on 08+ SJ? Reluctant to drill hull without some imput. Blowsion says bolt up as in instructions.

I just bought a pair for my 1990 SN.... What should I expect to see once installed... ???

As we speak they are being installed... I just started riding in the surf full time from the past riding on smooth lakes... I can tell you this much that my ski felt a little squirrely in the surf... Not necessarlily like chine walking, but, seemed to needed a little more front end float and stability... I am running the stock ride plate with a worx 201 grate... Also... Just changed over to an 07 RN pole with Hazard bracket...

Excited to let er' rip once again !!!

The 08 hull has tubbies built in already, it would overkill.

The 08+ does have sponsons built in, but it is not overkill. The 08+ built in sponson is smaller than the 07- sponsons. The 08+ destroyer is smaller than the 07- destroyer, so you end up with the same ride. The 08+ hull still has deeper chines, so it will still ride different and carve better.

I have ridden the 08+ with the destroyers. Much more stable than my 07- w/o destroyers. I just got my destroyers but I have not installed them yet. The 08+ I rode with the sponsons was much more stable in chop. It reduced the side-to-side roll of the ski (think extended ride plate but for the sides). It also kept the ski upright more than my 07- so in the corners it didn't lean so hard. I could stay more upright, more controlled and with less fatigue. (I also rode a 08+ w/o sponsons this same day. The front rode the same as mine, the difference was in the rear chines prevented the back from sliding as much. It still had the side-to-side roll my boat has.)

I went with the destroyers for 2 reasons...

1) I'm not sure I want the sponsons. Right now I am racing and I know they are good for surf, but not sure about flatwater and etc. Being able to remove them gives me a 'tuning' option. I am sure I will never use it, but I have that option.

2) Easy install, easy removal. They cost twice what the other sponsons cost, but they are worth about $200 used. If I don't like them, I can remove them and sell them. If I switch boats, I can take them with me. If I get rid of my SJ, I can part them out, because a SJ hull and sponsons is worth more than a SJ hull with sponsons. Unless you break them, your net cost is lower than you might think. Additionally, you don't have to worry about losing them. Some people remove the screws from the other sponsons to keep the finish shaved, but then loose a sponson, making their net cost the same. Lastly, time is money, and if I can do the job in 20-30 minutes, I don't need to have a day off work spent installing, glassing and blending the other set.
