Problem is the mechanic is not going to know how to troubleshoot it. They know how to replace part by the part numbers.

yamaha mechanics have "factory" training...so they know it all. I want to know how many ways they tried to blame the customer for their ill tuned machine off the show room floor and how many times they ran it out of the water to diagnose the problem. I guess the "factory" forgot to explain they are suppose to check over all assemblies before they go out the door. I wouldn't leave the show room until i had 2 gallons of full syn oil, life jacket, pink streamers...something, for the new buggy hassle or id make a scene for potential customers. They screwed up, and when you screw up, you pay for it...so should they.

Around here they are idiots. They never take any watercraft for any water testing. Set to factory specs. If it cranks it is fixed.

I finally got to call them around lunch time yesterday. spoke with the service tech. he explained to me that they were " trying to take care of me by getting Yamaha to warrantee them to fix it even though it is not warranteed" he also explained he thought it was dirty carbs(WOW WTF) and it would take 3-5 days to get the carb rebuild kits in"because you cant take apart carbs without having new gaskets on hand" (OMG) ooooooooohhhhhhhhkkkkkkkay.......so I ask what makes them think the carbs are dirty when the ski redlined and wouldn't shut off when started? he told me he had no idea it did that. I then proceded to ask him why I had bothered to fill out the repair ticket that clearly states the costomers complaint that the ski redlined out of the water. he had no answer for me. I did get his gears turning about the airleak though. I suggested he start it and spray some carb cleaner around the carbs and see if it revs out(because he said it wasn't taking off there, go figure). he said he couldn't do anything until he spoke to Yamaha and they gave him the go ahead, which could take a couple days!

after I got off the phone with him and vomited, I had a beer then called the Yamaha costomer service depertment and filed a claim. they called the dealer and told them to do what they had to do to fix it. so now im still going to be without a ski for some time and I don't feel very good its in the hands of idoits. I'm very tempted to call jetmaniac and order up the gaskets I need and fix it myself. like someone said before, its probally just a loose bolt or something!

btw......they told me the mikuni rebuild kits were $300!

Overall this sucks out loud. Its bad for the sport. If @550headache were brand new to the sport we might have lost him. How many have we lost because of some jack wagon who doesn't know how to take care of people. I guess I am too customer focused. :/

so talking with the service manager yesterday they ordered carb rebuild kits and all new intake gaskets. we also discussed why water came out the exhaust when I first started it. he claims they did not hook it to water....which means the dealer that had it previously must have used the ski the pawned it off as new.(AWESOME) maybe the low speed circuit IS clogged up from old fuel. I cant get a straight answer if the ski was crated or not when it was delivered. some real shady chit is going on. Anyways, hope to get ski back before the weekend. temps here in the northeast are 10-15 degrees above average!

This^^ Document everything, tell them you have documented everything (phone calls etc) and tell them you are pursuing legal action. Might get you a NEW SJ out of it.

Agreed. At this point they owe you a new ski.
They sold you a used ski under false pretenses as a new ski, and then to make it worse tried to screw you over when you asked them to address issues.
If it actually was used and sold to you as new you definitely are capable of a lawsuit.
I would demand a full refund or a new ski in the crate, not to be opened until your arrival.
I would update Yamaha on the situation as well.

my friend is a yamaha dealer mechanic. he said he could easily get yamaha to warranty a manufacturers defect. dont take any poop from them!
