Super Jet Carb Butterlfy Screw Removal

Could anyone give me some advice on getting the screws out of the butterflys on the stock sj carbs? They are crimped a bit I guess so you can't just unscrew them.

And also, whats the best way to clean the carb (not attached to the motor) if you get some metal files in it?

The screws will come out. Make sure to use a screw driver that fits. You can put a dowell in a vise to support the back of the shaft_ screws....

Disasemble the carbs, needle and seat jets. And spray carb cleaner through the holes.

I always seem to break the heads off the screws.

Thats what I did also. I drilled the head off, because the screw stripped out.

Thanks for the help. Filed down the mushroomed side and then they screwed right out.. noww the tamper proof caps, really am not finding an easy way to get those off.

What is the best technique? I've searched but am still having trouble getting them off.

Bingo.... grind the back side of the screws using a Dremel tool with a carbide burr or they'll break off inside the throttle shaft and then you will be screwed.
